We believe
not
in planes that punch the guts of Western culture;
The looked-for symbol obscured
by reality - hundreds of bodies burned;
scores of minds crushed;
 springs of breath stopped.

We believe
not
in Allah who kills and burns and grinds;
His righteousness hidden
by hate and zealotry and spite,
and scores of minds bent;
and compassion’s breath ablaze.

We believe
not
in Christ who claims he’s King;
The dying Cross aloof;
 indifference foregrounded;
hearts quelled,
minds closed,

We believe
our Christ has
identified
