Hi All!Well after an amazingly long journey over here, not helped by the 8 hour delay at Melbourne airport due to soup.. or should i say fog.. here i am! Ive been here two days now and the weather is out of control... It has pretty much not stopped raining and its so cold! So cold in fact i was up in Jono's and Erin's apartment looking out over the city from the 17th floor.. and as casually as you like jono pipes up and says 'hey look.. its snowing!' sure enough sleet screaming through the sky much to my dismay delight and what ever else! So here it is then.. the world 'winter' triathlon!! Ha ha. Anyway.. the weather for tomorrow (Saturday) looks ok.. 16 and partly cloudy. So here is hoping. Well that moves me onto the water.. the water temp is wait for it... 12oC!!! For those in melbounre, just think of the bay at the moment.. yet colder! So with a purchase of a neoprene wet suit hat off to the water we wet for an early swim on Wednesday morning.. oh my god!!!! Ever had an ice cream headache? Well ive ofially worked out you can get one in your jaw, your hands and your feet! It took a good 5 minutes to get moving properly.. going to be an interesting race come tomorrow! But hey everyone has to do it.. im sure the seppo's and warm europe countries will have more trouble than me! Otherwise feeling good.. have made the time adjustment suprisingly well. Slept normally the last two nights unlike some of the other members of the team.. im the lucky one! Vancouver itself is an amazing city.. So beautiful and so bloody clean! im sure the general public must have it drummed in them that they have to pick everything up! Even the homeless bums have their trolley's in order and tidy and clean! To those at home, its much like melbourne.. maybe a little smaller but the same look and feel. But i still cant get used to looking the right way when crossing the street! Those ronald macdonald ad's when i was a kid must be still in my brain.. you know the ones about how to cross the street in Australia? Well its not the same here Ronald!!! ha ha Oh of course then there was LA airport.. Which i got to spend a wonderful 4 hours at. Boy they are pretty out there the yanks! Knowing they hardly are the most friendliest of people... i made sure i said 'g'day' to as many as possible in my aussiest ancent.. and they gave me such strnage looks! But i had a great experience through customs... the guy says to me 'so your a triathlete hey' (Said in the best american acent you can try) then proceeded to to give me the stay solid.. oh gold. Im in America!! Anyway, just about to get a massage.. im still laughing at Jamie losing his key down the boot of his BMW in spain.. funny story that. So here it is.. the World Champs. To everyone back home, hope you are all well and thinking of you. Thanks for your messages of support and good luck. Every step of the way i will be thinking of the people that helped me get to this race.. Watson, Brian Vernon and Andy - your support has been to good for words to describe, so thanks. And to my mum - you are always my hero. Oh and one last thing.. To Matt Keays - im still fast. Speak to you after the race.. dont forget - Pain is temporary, quitting is forever.
