I was watching this Doco the other night and thought i might share it. It was called The Great Happiness Space: Tale of an Osaka Love Thief

The doco was about Host Clubs that are in Japan

.

What a Host Club is is a place that has men that pour drinks, and often flirt with female clients.

.

The clients that usually go to the Host Clubs are wives of rich men or women working as hostesses in hostess clubs as to go can cost quite alot of money prices seem to start at around 9800 yen (approx 84.149067 USD)

.

To get a private booth the price can go up to 100,000 yen (approx 858.663950 USD)

.

The women go there to be listened to and made to feel as if they belong and are someone. The men acknowledge the women's desire to taken care of and are loved back. It seems that Japanese men don’t listen to women and make them feel good about themselves and by going to these clubs they get it there. Most of the women that go there are women that work as Hostesses, them making anywhere between 300,000 and 400,000 JPY (approx 2,575.991850 and 3,434.655800 USD)

The conversations by the men are generally light-hearted; hosts may have a variety of entertainment skills, simple magic tricks or loads of charisma with which to tell a story.

Hosts are often an age between 18 and their mid-20s. They will take a 'stage name' usually taken from a favourite manga, film, or historical figure, and will often describe their character.

Pay is usually determined by commission on the amount of drinks the woman orders

.

The hours that a Host Bar is open are usually from around midnight and they finish in the morning or midday, the hosts working to the point of exhaustion.

In the show i watched there was one woman who wanted to marry one of the hosts and hoped that all the money she was paying to see this guy was seen as a down payment for a future with him.

.

He was explaining that yes he knew she was going to say some stuff about him and couldn’t wait for him to see it so that he would know how she felt for him.

.

I felt sad for this woman as you could see that the guy who was the host would probably not marry her, he made her feel good and wanted, what all people need.
