Months pass before I remember I made this blog. Accidently remembered when I was looking through my bookmarked sites tonite. I have a short attention span and it didn't keep me engrossed for long. Just had to add my little bit to the blogging world so i didn't feel left behind. There are too many other things to do in this adventurous life. BTW Smoking Baby has cut the smoking right down. Got some boxes of nicotine patches for my birthday, from my best friend no less. Even tho I still don't see smoking as the evil it's portrayed it's getting so expensive I wanted to save money. Down to 10 a day now and happy with that. Not using patches now and find I really only want to smoke when I get excited, like when the delivery man brings a surprise package to the door and my instinct is to light up before I open it. I do believe nicotine makes smarter people too. In fact I saw some scientific program saying that is the case. Guess I'll leave it here and write something again when I remember I have this blog. One interesting aspect of this site has been meeting some interesting people (like catdog!)
..... until I return, maybe to celebrate when Howard and his corrupt cohorts bite the dust!

Who reads blogs? The same people who would read your diary if they found it lying around, people who like to delve into others inner spaces. Why on earth anyone would want to do that is beyond me. There are thousands upon thousands of blogs on the web and there wouldn't be even 1% that are worth reading (including this one). Generally they are enough to bore anyone to death, except maybe your mother (if she's not already dead). Blogs that inspire creativity are the only ones really worthwhile and perhaps a few others that actually provide useful information, but otherwise who gives a stuff about the trivia of daily life of people you don't know! The web could end up like some gigantic cocktail party full of meaningless blather and you can't find the door to escape - and your face will hurt from smiling as you try to politely tell people you are not at all interested in their plumbing problems, religion or politics. Sorry if that hurts your feelings, Baby just gets fed up with inane conversations! Keep jotting those thoughts and daily doings .... somewhere down the track an historian might appreciate them.

And on the ongoing path to financial riches this baby has put my one published book into google book search. There were only ever 2,000 copies printed and they were sold a while ago but I figure it's still worthwhile to promote the PDF version. Keeping the low profile I want in this blog allows me to say almost anything without fear of retribution so I'm not about to promote the book here. Just possibly you may come across it one day and not even know it! While browsing the books offered I also came across ME in a couple of others books I've been published in ....arrh the sighs of a fish in a mud puddle. I was reading catdogs blog about a friend she has, that often years go by and they don't see each other but the friendship is always there. I have a few friends like that. May not see them for years but when you do you can almost resume the sentence you were last talking. One of mine like that is Harald and the gap this time has been too long but I don't know where he is, maybe Germany. He's not in the Australian phone book. He would turn up on my doorstep after years of no contact and usually at really bad times, like the time we were in the middle of moving but he happened to have a bad back that time so couldn't even lift a flowerpot. That was the time he slept under the kitchen table because there was no space. Where are you Harald? It's time to catch up.

Thanks for the Xmas wishes, it turned out to be a great family time and Baby's playpen was crowded.
Since the hubub has died down I've been engrossed in updating my website and adding google adsense. Amazing to see the income climbing for very little effort really. I like the idea of earning money from the playpen without having to go out! I can please myself if I want to smoke like a fiend.

Inspired by Angela here's a survey from the Baby - for those who like clicking buttons!Just in case anyone reads this blog here's my wish for you - I hope you have a wonderful xmas season and that santa is good to you! I've been busy wrapping presnts and now they're all under the tree looking very exciting. Wrapped presents look so good I'm thinking of asking everyone not to open them this year. Let's just leave them unopened and think of the unlimited potential possibilities of what may be in them! I've always considered anticipation usually surpasses the event. That's why, when I'm asked to a party - I think about it, imagine what I'll wear, who will be there, what they'll say ... and then I politely decline, already lived that party in my imagination, the real thing probably wouldn't be as good! I also wish you a wonderful 2007, especially if you've had a hard time this year. Don't worry, things will get better. There's nothing as certain as change and it will be for the better. For the world generally it may get worse unless we get lucky and the heads of our countries change, but for you personally things will improve. Happy New Year!

Ooops I forgot I was writing a blog occasionally. Got caught up in the world of online auctions. Even sold something! But it's such a time consuming thing I think you really have to love it. Some people are born salespeople. Others like me find it all a big effort and quite boring. I'd rather give the stuff away than waste all that time for petty cash! Most of the goods people auction are bulk lots bought from the same people who have stores like Crazy Clarks and the Two Dollar shops. I don't spend a lot of time shopping there either! I have to edit here to say how unimpressed I was with my Oztion experience. They have that same big brother mentality as the big boys. If someone posts in the community discussion groups and admin think it even slightly critical of the way things are run, they remove the post rather than leave it for discussion or even consider the validity of changing something. It reminds me of the paid competition sites where no real honest discussion is allowed. All for the same reason, they want more people to join their wonderfully happy little sites - and give them more MONEY! Surprise surprise it's all about money so don't let truth get in the way!

I hope to be filthy rich by this time tomorrow after betting my $20 on the Melbourne Cup! My money's going on RAILINGS, POP ROCK, ZABEAT and YEATS. Let me know if you have any good wins! Good Luck! And on an entirely different note, I don't know whether to be flattered or dismayed that a very right wing conservative blog has taken up a short article I wrote in The Australian last week, about the closing down of ABC's The Glass House. I am not a regular viewer of the show but that's beside the point. What I wrote was about defending the rights of all people to free speech. I pointed out that if anyone thinks we're living in a democracy they're dreaming! This ultra conservative blog site has posted my article and so far had over 100 comments anti The Glass House and me for defending them and daring to infer our rights are being limited more and more. Oh I stirred a hornet's nest of hate and bigotry. How sad I am to live in a country that spawns people so close-minded.

Sorry to hear that White Page was taken away by the big boys, but really, have they ever given a damn about individuals? The only language they understand is money, they would tread over our dead bodies to get to money. Isn't it weird, our quality of life is improved by communication and spreading the word yet they will cut off this social interaction without a thought. It would be a good move for all the bloggers of White Page to boycott Telstra, like an ant biting a giant but it might cause a scratch. Or change the name to The White Rage Blog!
Smoking Baby isn't too concerned personally about what this site is called. Not having exactly built up an army of fans and blogging purely for fun, I don't care what it's called. However it's the principle involved and the riding roughshod over people who have no comeback.
Put them in the same (leaky) boat as the government politicians and tow them far out to sea!
ATTRACTIONS OF DEPRESSION

So many people suffer depression and I must admit that at times even I have thought something like " come on get a grip, shake yourself out of this and get on with things". I know it's not that easy. Don't get me wrong, I'm not making light of a very serious problem but this blog is a space to voice some of the random thoughts that go through my mind, like voicing into the void. Does depression have some sort of attraction? Meet some unknown need? The urge to jump into that black abyss and wallow in the depths of despair? Is there some sort of satisfaction to be had from giving in to the urge to be more than sad, feeling intense emotion of any kind even if it is all negative? I wouldn't be surprised .... and maybe a bit of wallowing in misery isn't a bad thing once in a while. It makes for appreciation of what you have when you do snap out of it. I don't know for sure if I have ever suffered depression. There were a couple of years way back when I was desperately unhappy and I called that depression because I ate the branch and flowers of an oleander bush to try to escape the bad feelings. However there were good reasons for why I felt like that and once I got out of the situation it was all uphill. There are no answers here, just more questions.

I didn't suck my thumb. At least I don't think I did. But Sooky Bubba did. He was telling me how he used to suck his thumb all day from babyhood until the day he put a cigarette in his mouth and lit it .... and finally got the satisfaction he had been looking for in his thumb! He thinks he was 9 or 10 at the time. It didn't stunt his growth either!

Back from a weekend in Sydney and a wonderful few days. Wedding in the most beautiful park, drinks and eats at the Double Bay yacht club. Must do that again within the year. I grew up in Sydney and to hang around Paddington again makes me remember my days at art school in the East Sydney Tech. When I wore such outlandish clothes my father wouldn't walk in the street with me! And one of the teachers, with a pencil moustache and slicked down hair asked me out and when he came to pick me up Dad slammed the door in his face. Anyway this time I bought a little black dress in the FCUK shop in Oxford St and felt very glam. Painted my finger and toenails and even put some of that tan stuff on so I had elegantly streaked brown legs - but no-one noticed.

I am absolutely devastated about Steve Irwin's death. How could that be? Why such a good caring man when there are so many creeps still walking around adding nothing to the planet? Like a punch in the stomach - life isn't fair. I knew that, but this really brings it home in a terrible way. How I hope he is in some other dimension happily wrestling crocs. Steve will be missed by so many. Anyone who didn't like him simply didn't know him. What a dreadful loss for us all.

Baby is a census collector! Not really the sort of job for this baby but I thought it would be easy. Wrong! It was a killer giving out forms to people who mostly weren't there and others who lived in gigantic apartment blocks with security grids made to keep out invading armies. Gotta say there's a lotta paranoid people out there! And now .... ogod ... they all have to be collected. If only I had stressed the ease of submitting the info online I wouldn't have to go back for so many! Only about 30 of my 500 households have done them online ... and that's way below what they expected. 50% of the people around here would be computer literate it was estimated by some higher power. So why don't they use their computers? Save the baby's legs and submit online!
It's not worth a new entry to talk about this boring work I'm doing so will just edit to say it continues .... it feels endless and I hate it! As soon as my time is my own again I can continue work on the hebel block I am carving. It will be a type of chalice with a smooth bowl carved into the top on a base of four wild women, representing the elements, around all sides. It will be a receptacle for written spells, to burn them in a ritualistic enchantment.

Here's the house of Baby as Betterman wanted to see it, taken from the car on my phone (scuse the thumb). It is a sort of rainforest except there isn't much rain there these days. If I lived there full time I would spend my days making tropical gardens and winding paths.![]() Ever full of bright ideas I have had thoughts of turning this acreage into some sort of bush resort for overseas tourists. Y'know, with tents among the trees, very luxurious bedding and personal porta potties and bush showers. Fill em up with damper and charge a fortune. Maybe add some stuffed koalas up high in the trees with hidden buttons I could press to make birdsongs and to have cassawaries run across the tracks. Goannas and wallabies are the main inhabitants now altho there are lots of King Parrots and Yellow Breasted Robins in season as well as bright yellow Regent Bower Birds. It's very peaceful and hidden and will be great when the time comes and we have to get out of town! 100 years ago it was gold-mining territory so we can fossick for a big find while the rest of society is destroying itself. Some trees on this land are as high as a 16 story building and while Baby is alive no tree will ever be harmed! THE SOOKY BUBBA SHOWER SHOW

The baby never showers alone! About to be syndicated to podcast, the Sooky Bubba Shower Show has collected a cult following amongst those who like to be first to form opinions from political crisis to global warming and ways to have sex in the shower. It’s all there in unedited reality. Any tech experts in shower recording who could help the team solve the problem of the water noise drowning out the voices would be appreciated. Wrapping the mic in foam helps a bit but not enough.

As I told gryphonn, who found the naughty little thing, SmokePuss took off with a fresh pack of marlboros about 2 years ago. He set off on a smoking road trip and as he's a light smoker I guess it took him that long to get through the pack and make himself available to be found. I wouldn't be surprised if he's left clones of himself all over the place in that time. Don't be surprised if you come across what looks like him in other places. BABY BUBBLES
