Round 1 - Manly v Raiders

Brookvale Oval, 7.30pm, Saturday 17th March 2007

The teams have been named for the first game of 2007. This year begins at last year did - versus the Raiders, at Brookvale, in a night match on the Saturday night. Last year the Raiders shocked us all and came away with the 2 points - this year they won't be getting the same result.

Interchange: Travis Burns, Anthony Watmough, George Rose, Mark Bryant, Glenn Hall (1 player to be omitted)

Raiders: William Zillman, Colin Best, Phil Graham, Marshall Chalk, Adrian Purtell, Todd Carney, Michael Dobson, Troy Thompson, Lincoln Withers, Dane Tilse, Glen Turner, Matt Bickerstaff, Alan Tongue
Interchange: Andrew Dunemann, Neville Costigan, Josh Miller, Scott Logan, Ben Jones (one to be omitted).

Another Fantasy?

Well, Fantasy NRL that is. Have just been browsing around Fox Sports and discovered a 2nd game - similar to Virtual NRL. And this one doesn't look too shabby. Well, I did cut down on number of tipping comps this year - surely it can't hurt to add a 2nd one of these.

How Are The Tipping Skills?

 

There are loads of tipping comps available online - I tend to get involved in just about all of them (usually far too many so it takes forever to get them all sorted each week LOL). Am restricting myself this year to just a handful.

League HQ. Run by Fairfax - through the SMH. Not been involved in this one before but, like BWS, it has cash prizes so more than just bragging rights for this one too.

I am also in a league for VNRL (Virtual NRL). In the process of picking my team at the moment - time will tell if I actually remember to check my players before each round this year. *whistles*

We're not pretenders...

Manly - The Real Deal

Well, we can't let cg give everyone wrong information on what is going to happen in this year's NRL season. It is of utmost importance that all are kept informed of the goings on at the BEST club - the only club that matters. The Manly Sea Eagles.

Surely there must be a whole host of Manly fans lurking in the halls of BN - after all, this is a community which is made up of so many who have absolutely great taste in so many things; no reason to suspect that you also won't have great taste in football teams.

It's going to be a great year for Manly. Yes, we said a sad farewell to BK at the end of last season but Jamie Lyon is now with us and is promising great things. 2007 is also shaping to be the final year of the most fabulous career of the great Steve "Beaver" Menzies. He deserves to go out a winner - the GF will be a more than fitting farewell gift for him.

It has been a long off season but now we are down to less than a week before the season proper kicks off. All eyes will be focussed on Brookvale Oval next Saturday night as the Sea Eagles take on the Raiders at 7.30pm to open their account for 2007. Two trials played thus far - both successful performances for the boys. They are ready. The fans are ready. Bring it on.
