the saintly

or stupid

never hesitate.

while the fool

and the coward

will discuss right and wrong

even as the shells fall

and the children scream

hypocrisy and ignorance

are a vital refuge

in an insane world

19/5/2008 - How Blogging Saved America

Posted in POETRY
Have you ever been so angry that you wanted to spit in the face of the whole country?

Have you ever been bitter enough to turn away?

Have you passed an evening in sophistry, then pissed your whole mind up against a wall, just because there was a wall?

Are you in love with yourself? If not - why bother?

Do you suffer the short Vulcan mind-meld, spontaneously, and then channel Ginsberg bop-kabala to the masses?

Have you ever given up giving up, publicly - then sat in private shame?

Of the need to save America.

Of the need to save souls.

Of the need for a feed.

Of the need to talk until your fingers bleed.

Have you ever had the smell of another continent wake you up?

Do you live in a cage? Such a pretty pretty cage.

Have you ever masturbated an intellect for fun and dark dreams?

Have you ever stalked a sweet spring park feeling cold and miserable?

Have you ever watched a small boy try to do too much, too soon?

Have you ever been in love?

Ten ways to be in love.

A hundred thousand ways to be in love.

With me.

With you.

With the haters and lovers and mothers and sisters and brothers.

Have you ever written about cheese? Counting points instead of dollars.

Have you ever trolled for a particular troll, then spammed the man with honor and dignity intact?

Have you ever cried for the sake of a blackout and a sad friend in the far away lonely night?

Have we ever been lovers? I still hate you my darling.

Have we ever believed that we all might be saved?

Did you cry when shown the picture?

Have you ever passed a fitful sleep for the sake of one line? That hateful, hateful, line.

Have you ever been content? Should you be content?

Are they content? Why not?

Are we alone? In bed? In public naked? Great.

I wave my willie. So do you.

And so America is saved.

Hungry for Some Justice

I was hungry for some justice - the best that I could find,
perhaps a pound of jurisprudence from a great judicial mind?

I started in a ghetto
in a forgotten broken mile
it was full of squalid little hovels
and here I shopped a while

I bought a sixpence worth of sympathy
and three pennies worth of tears
a carry-bag of misery
and a basket full of fears

then two dozen long excuses
came so very cheap
so I bought them all unthinkingly
and then went home to sleep

I was hungry for some justice -the best that I could find,
perhaps a pound of jurisprudence from a great judicial mind?

I went searching in a shopping mall
so invitingly secure
there was muzak all around me
and a welcome on the door

and everywhere was shiny
and they were all so very nice
and any justice you care to name
could be bought at any price

but upon awakening next morning
I found to my surprise
I'd bought a trolley full of promises
and a long receipt of lies

I was hungry for some justice - the best that I could find,
perhaps a pound of jurisprudence from a great judicial mind?

So I called upon my chauffeur
and informed him I would dine
then I bought a brace of issues
and some fine expensive wine

And the Club was full of bonhomie
an absolute delight
we partied all that afternoon
and well into the night

and imagine my astonishment
when I awoke upon a cloud?
an Australian in paradise?
it makes me feel so proud
