1.                     Why do companies need to carry out website performance analysis?

To see if the company’s website has done the job which is needed to be done, and to see wether customers like it or not. It is also important to see if it is achieving the expectations.

2.                     What are the differences between back-end standards and front-end standards?

Back end standards are the standards relating to the company (software used, server downtimes, and hardware).

Front end standards are the standards relating to the customers (customer service, and satisfaction of the customers).

3.                     Give examples of some of the standards that could be used as benchmarks for website performance analysis.

Network Management Standards

Database Management Standards

Software Integration

Payment Processing

4.                     Why is supply chain as essential for e-business as it is for the traditional business? Discuss.

Because in both cases things need to be delivered to certain places and to certain people, therefore supply chain is important in all sorts of business no matter what they do.

5.                     What are the “Terms of Delivery”? Explain.

All the conditions agreed upon between trading partners regarding the delivery of goods and the related services.

6.                     What does “CIF” stand for?

Cost, insurance, freight. A pricing term indicating that the cost of the goods, insurance, and freight are included in the quoted price.

7.                     If you place an order for a CD with a US website, what would you regard as a reasonable time-frame for the order to be fulfilled? Discuss.

It would depend on the actual company, and how much time do they say they would take to deliver the product. But considering it is a business, they would do it ASAP as long as it doesn’t cost them more money, therefore taking in consideration that it is in the US, it should take approximately about 2 weeks.

8.                     What is “colour coordination”? Give examples.

To coordinate the colours of a website depending on the information that is being displayed, the place or/and to whom it is displayed. E.g. Most Chinese websites would be red or yellow because these two colours have a good impression on Chinese people, on the other hand black colour wouldn’t be as good.

9.                     Do you feel that human involvement is required for CM (Content Management) or it can be accomplished fully through the use of content management software? Discuss.

No because, CM techniques were created to help the person or the company which does the all the management of the content. It was not created to do all automatically because it would be impossible.
