A quote from a great man, Raymond Plank - Posted at 3:40 PM on 21/7/2009 by David Murray
"In Africa every morning a gazelle awakens knowing that it must out-run the fastest lion if it wants to stay alive. Every morning a lion wakes up knowing that it must run faster than the slowest gazelle or it will starve to death. It makes no difference whether you are a lion or a gazelle: when the sun comes up you had better be running."

Enlarge the site of your tent,
    and let your tent curtains be stretched out;
    do not hold back;
    lengthen your ropes,
    and drive your pegs deep.

    For you will spread out to the right and to the left,
    and your descendants will dispossess nations
    and inhabit the desolate cities.

Weight loss - Posted at 2:50 PM on 8/7/2009 by David Murray

I would like to say a huge thank you to Wayne Stevens (0404366561) at Metabolic Weight Loss & Training for his expertise in losing weight and getting fit fast. If you are interested in ether losing some weight or you’ve dreamt of one day doing that triathlon then I seriously recommend this guy, he knows what he's doing. He is a critical part of the ‘Mongol Derby’ and I very much value his sponsorship. Mention you spoke with me and I'm sure he'll work you harder!!

VO2 max testing measures the amount of oxygen your body uses at different exertion levels while you exercise of a bike or treadmill. For more information contact Wayne

So what has happened since my last blog!?

Well there hasn't been much riding done lately in Perth due to the constant rain. I did have another small fall two weeks ago with the horse throwing me into a puddle of mud (thank god for the rain!), managed to catch the horse and continue riding and felt pretty good about it. My half horse brother James did say if you don’t fall off your not trying hard enough, so I hope I am slowly gaining his respect! Have you ever seen Legends of the Fall? Just need to grow my hair out!

Other news I had my first Radio interview with Radio NZ this morning and was a little nervous but it all went pretty well, apart for forgeting to mention this website arrr!! Hopefully there will be many more!!

On the other front, fundrasing is a full time job and rather slow! Huge thanks has to go out to Christian at Neptune Marine in Perth for their $2000 donation, massive thanks.

Best Regards
Dave

Weight loss - Posted at 9:41 AM on 12/6/2009 by David Murray

I thought I’d splash out and buy myself some new scales yesterday so I can get a more precise reading on my weight loss. I weighed in at 87.5kgs midday yesterday and after a huge session at the gym in the afternoon and a packet of soup for dinner I was down to.....85kgs. Things are looking up!!

Training & Weight Loss! - Posted at 9:50 AM on 11/6/2009 by David Murray

After falling off a horse three weeks ago I am back in the saddle and almost over the injuries! Training only twice a week at the moment due time restrictions but have a new contact which will allow me to take a horse away over night and camp. The weight loss is going ok I am sitting on 90kgs with 5kgs to loose to make the 85kg weight restriction. I will be plotting my weight loss at work!
