Load of bankers - number 95

I'm nominating next Tuesday as the day all those people involved in banking should be made to do the Japanese thing and appear before us, bow deeply and ask our forgiveness.
I'm talking about all of them; the ones at the top of the salary tree who are greedy, immoral, stupid and reckless. They oversaw the biggest grubby money-grabbing exercise in history. If you or I did what they did we'd be in prison. They lent money to people who could never pay it back - some of those who got the money in the US didn't even have jobs - and now we're all paying the price. Anyone with a loan will have seen their interest rate rise and rise as the bankers try and soak you and me for the mistakes they made.
And those who work in the banks in marketing, the ones who have regaled us with 'banking products'. Here's the news; banks don't make anything, they don't produce a product. Bow deeply and think carefully about what you say.
The ones who work behind the counters, yes you should bow deeply too. You should ask our forgiveness for your arrogance. I mean, what's it about? All you have to do is put my deposit in your vault.
Once they have bowed and apologised and sought our forgiveness for abusing our trust and wasting our money and being greedy and arrogant and overpaid I'd like them to set up a banking charter. Here's what it would say:
We work for you.
You are our customer.
We will keep your money, which you have entrusted to us, safe.
We will stop using bollocks words like banking products.

...you know how this sort of talk excites me. Do you think it might lead anywhere? Or is all just a big tease until next time? And they wonder why people bury it in a tin in the backyard - thank god for plastic bank notes is all I can say.

You know...

...they should apologise and they should remember we are their clients. I mean, can you think of any other industry that treats customers the way banks do. I think not. Oh, they make me so mad!
