¿ 18/6/2007 - UTF8 Characters not appearing in Firefox

I had a situation today where UTF8 characters were not displaying properly in firefox.  This was on a webapp I was making with ActiveScaffold.

Checking the headers of the web page showed the correct document declaration, so this wasn't the problem.

Then I checked that the actual characters on the page were valid UTF 8 with a NEAT-O piece of MAC software called UnicodeChecker is fantasitc! and that was all OK.

This had me stumped for a bit.

Then it dawned on me.  I went into Firefox prefs and found that I did not have any default font set!

I then looked at the web page, and sure enough, no font was being sent in the CSS stylesheets!

Setting Firefox to a nice Unicode friendly font (like Monaco) solved the problem instantly.

Thought someone else might want to know :)
