¿ 8/3/2007 - The disappearing brush...

It seems that the Brush Fix was short lived - but nobody noticed...

It came, it was announced in a couple of places like photoshoptv in episode 71 and then it just went out into the wild, never to be seen again.

If you use an Intel MacBook Pro, or any Intel Mac, like I do, you'll understand the frustration that the CS3 Beta gives you.  Basically, if you use Photoshop CS3, then you can't see the brush sizes when you use the brush or eraser tool... also, cursors tend to dissapear pretty fast.

It has got to be the most annoying thing.

Of course, people say "Well, it is a beta, beta software has bugs" but the annoying thing is that the REASON we use Photoshop CS3 is because it runs in native mode on the Intel Macs.  Otherwise you are forced to use emulation mode (also known as running under Rosetta).

So the patch got released, and then pulled within, I would say, 48 hours... why?  Well, if you ask me it is to force all those Photoshop CS3 people to buy a copy when it is released in a month or so.

The unoffical reason (at least what was said on Jack Nack) is that they have all the beta testers they can get.  I'll let you decide what you think about this, but you know, they would loose a lot of sales from Intel Mac users when Photoshop CS3 finally comes out if the brush fix worked....

As a note, the Jack Nack article that said all the above, is not online anymore... interesting hey?

I did read it yesterday, it said something along the lines of "88% of Photoshop users are happy with Photoshop CS3, but the one big bug is that the brush cursor doesn't work..." and then something about private download, which went to a broken link.  Further in the article he said that they "had all the helpers they needed to test" or something...

This sort of correlates when you see the recent articles on Macworld about the upcomming CS3 release giving Apple about $900 million in sales...

So I am relegated back to using a native universal app running under Rosetta, the speed sucks, but that's the way the Adobe crumbles I guess.

I guess now my brush has disappeared... along with the patch...
