About Me
I am a 77 year old Aussie who grew up in a coal mining town during the Great Depression and World War2, digging air raid trenches in the school yard in 1942, worked as a Volunteer Air Observer for 3 years (1942-45) and was a member of the RAAF Air Training Corps (1943-45). When I left school in 1945 I often used to ride my bicycle 300+kms of a week-end to go home and see my parents. I became an amateur road cyclist as a result. I later worked in various jobs, was a Methodist Lay Preacher, theological student, bible college graduate, YMCA Army Welfare Officer in Korea(1955), was a State Superannuation Manager, and with my wife, had two family businesses etc. My wife Anne 75 was a history honours graduate and a former university lecturer. She is an author, and also writes family histories for clients. We have 2 sons, 2 daughters, 7 grandsons, and 2 grand-daughters.
