$ The exploitation of loneliness, on my phone? (3/7/2006)
I recieved a missed call today from a number in Melbourne... i was informed that i should not attempt to call it back. This is due to a new scam - if i had called it back i would of been connected to a service that charges $4 per min or a flat charge of $50.
I feel no need to pass any ethical comment on this subject - It speaks for its self...
But it did remind me of a moment in time passed - with my mother travelling in a car to some un-recallable destination, she pulled into a rather rundown looking bussniess to make a u-turn in the driveway i cracked a joke to her about how the shop owner would feel if he saw us, the hope of business dashed away as we exploited his drive way. He may of been a lonely person he may now be even lonelier...
Probably not... but i am certain that a few people out there may of been stung by this new scam. but what can we do?
