It wasn’t such a bad week
after all. It got off to a reasonable start, slumped horribly in the middle and
eventually came good at the end. It went to the wire, but I actually made an
improvement. So, feeling all happy with myself as I do, I’m going to launch
straight in.
Quick trip to Williamstown
and back for 31.87km at 27.3km/h. You know that slump I talked about? Well it
started on Tuesday. I didn’t do anything special on Wednesday or Thursday, just
some commuting for 35.36km at 18.8km/h (traffic). Saturday was a rest day
because Sunday saw the first of the biggies.
All three of us have done
nothing, so we thought we’d take a trip to Geelong and back bright and early. That ride
came in at 97.89km at 27.4km/h. I was pretty happy with that because of the
slightly better average to Monday’s 32km. Seems I’ve still got those endurance
legs after all.
So where did we end up last
week?
165.12km at an average speed
of 24.5km/h.
Having lulled you into
thinking I’m fit as a fiddle, it time now for the bit that Snowy’s been waiting
for. Yes, my legs still hurt when I got up on Monday. I neglected the hot bath
on Sunday, seeing as how it was 35 in the shade and I’m still paying the price
on Wednesday. The 3.5 hours in the saddle hasn’t done much for my backside
either. Oh well, there’s nothing for it, I’ll just have to go for a ride……

can't even imagine. I started a mad cycling regime on an exercise bike because I want huge muscular thighs and I've never seen a cyclist with puny thighs. So I do 4 days a week and do 18 - 20kms each time. The first couple of times I thought the bike must have been stuck on "hard" mode as it was like going through mud. My legs were jelly and sitting down the next day took a special trick of lowering as far as I could then kind of drpping the rest of the way. They've toughened up now though so I guess that means I have to increase the resistance I bit more. Good luck.

No substitute
For hard work Cat. It's already paying off if you need to increase the resistance. You'll have those finely chiselled calfs and thighs in no time...:)
plonka - 10:59 AM - 7/2/2007
Heh, heh, heh.
Won't be long now.... ;o)
snowy - 8:21 PM - 8/2/2007
Thanks Snowy...:)
Knew you wouldn't be able to pass that one up...:)
I knew the pain was coming though. Next time I'll be sure and remember the bath...
plonka - 8:34 PM - 8/2/2007
Silly old fool...
There, that should help the motivation.
Better still, when you climb in the saddle, imagine you're being chased by a fundie. Hmmm, perhaps not. That'd be an incentive for you to stop and take them on.
Even better, next time you feel the urge to do this foolishness, lie down until the feeling passes....
snowy - 8:44 AM - 9/2/2007
I wish..
Problem is that registering for the event I'm training for cost me $80. If I don't do it, I'll feel cheated....
But you're right. Next time I sit down to look for an event to ride in, I'll definitely lay down until it passes. Thanks for the advice Snowy...:)
plonka - 9:48 AM - 9/2/2007
That's OK, Plonka
It'll cost you $80, as you seem to have plenty of money to waste...
snowy - 10:07 AM - 9/2/2007
Cycling pain
Jeez, Ted, I'm getting sore just thinking about this.
dikkii - 12:44 PM - 9/2/2007
Not so...
Much to waste unfortunately Snowy.
There was a time when these things were payed for by memberships, but as with all things these days it's become a "user pays" situation. I guess they have to pay for the lead and chase cars and I'm sure our wonderful government will require a fee for closing half the road for the day...
plonka - 1:26 PM - 9/2/2007
Sore...
Thanks for that Dikkii...:)
But if you really want to know what 3 hours in the saddle feels like, get your bike out and I\'ll pick you up on the way through...:)
plonka - 2:51 PM - 9/2/2007
Well if it gets rid of that beer gut
I guess it'll be money well spent. Maybe I should try it. Nah, not after reading all your whinging...
A secret admirer - 5:36 PM - 9/2/2007
Well...
Thanks Secret...:)
I did say I was going to use this forum to whinge mightily. It is fun though...:)
plonka - 9:43 PM - 9/2/2007
What is fun?
Whingeing, or riding? Or both?
Secret Admirer - 10:18 PM - 9/2/2007
Well
Having a secret admirer of course...:)
plonka - 10:39 PM - 9/2/2007
Well, I'll have to come out of the closet, then
Can't have you getting a big head. That would never do. ;o)
snowy - 10:53 AM - 10/2/2007
Nerds....
I had you pegged Snowy and I said as much to Deena last night...:)
Having been a nerd since before the internet has it's advantages you know. I've puzzled over your IP address for a while now. I know you're in QLD, but you come though a NSW hub. Your IP address changes occassionally too, but you only ever use 2 of them. I hadn't seen the .123 address for a couple of days so it wasn't in my list at Statcounter. When I saw the one you've got now make a comment last night, well...:)
I was thinking of something devious to do in return, but now that you've fessed up...:)
plonka - 12:13 PM - 10/2/2007
And here's me thinking I had you fooled...NOT.
Go on, admit it. The old heart did flutter for a couple of seconds, didn't it...
I don't know why my IP address appears from NSW. The shame of it....
snowy - 12:41 PM - 10/2/2007
Well..Ok...
Yeah, you had me going, right up until your IP address changed...:)
plonka - 1:19 PM - 10/2/2007
LOL..
You guys...!! Ha...I so love the game of nerdy detective sleuthing (when for a good cause), lateral thinking, tongue-in-cheek humour, and mystery.
Speak geek to me! You know I love it! LOL
(oohhh... I'd used this for an article header, but I think you may be onto something Plonka. Got any game ideas?)
Thanks for the laughs guys. Dee
deena - 9:20 AM - 11/2/2007
600
Thatnks Dee...:)
Did you realise that you made my 600th comment?
Thanks and thanks again....:-)
