THE HOLIDAYS DRAW TO AN ENDThe holidays are just about over and BUMMER - says I .
NELLIBELL49 SUMMER 08 Been long and wet and tense and difficult. Had 2 great days with the kids in Armidale then a tense and not so good trip back to the Tweed via Tenterfield and Nimbin. Then the not-cyclone hit . Days flooded in at Bilambil. Pretty good with trench digging and adventure. Then the PC packed it in. And even though we have a socket set - things remained grim. The Star Wagon was bogged down the bottom for 8 days. Ah My ! No swimming. No sunshine and doing it real tough about the short time with the Kids. Snuck in a few days which bring smiles to the memory. As Mad O'Brian once vaguely said. Its not so much whether you enjoy it at the time. Its the process and the memories I guess. So we did Currumbin Valley and ate at the Crystal Cottage with a bizarre but GOOD harmonica player. And we Did a great deal of research on Melinda Kendall. We encountered a woman called Wendy at the Murwillumbah Community Centre, She was manager of Berkely when Iz was down south and now manages Murbah. And then on the VERY last day we did REDCLIFFE. I had hesitated to do Redcliffe in case it wasn't as good as I had hoped but IT IS BETTER than I had hoped. MUCH better. The bridge really is 2.74 kilometres long and the and Moreton Bay is wonderful despite it being the deathplace of my Great GGGG grandfather John Ready in a strait jacket. It was NOT strait jacket territory for me today. It was the BEST day of the hoiliday other than the 2 days at Xmas. EASILY. Had a swim at Redcliffe in the wonderful Settlement Lagoon. Friday with Izzy back at work. Me back at meetings. Like the brekkie meeting at the Coffee Club in Adelaide Street which is moving next week to the Uniting Church St Andrews on Ann Street. Where the Heartbeat lunch meetings are held daily. Right at Central Station and right at my 470 bus stop. I like the Brekkie people. Did Toowong Womans last night. Not so good at all female meetings. I like Brisbane. I even like the Ipswich train - packed though it is at 7am. How did I end up waking at these abominable times and being out and about ? Wonder what the definition of HOLIDAYS is ? These were mega stressed for me and filled with disappointed. I do not intend living life DIS-APPOINTED. So something in me needs to change. Count your blessings and Change your Behaviour The Brother once said to me. I can do that. I was NOT disappointed with the Bay. I was NOT disappointed with the Oyster bay Coffee Shop nor Woodys Point Op Shop. HOLLY LYNNE IZZY AND SOZ. Nor was I disappointed to meet Izzys daughter and her friends Holly and Arlo. That was one good night. Jamiesons and then The Cottage. And - thinking about things reminds me that I have this fine tie dyed singlet from Pottsville. I also have a tie dyed t shirt from the Channon Markets and a tie dyed spread from the University of Queensland markets - held each Wednesday at UQ.New Handbag from Jim and Jo is seeing me through Brisbane. Goes over the shoulder and has all manner of facilitating attributes. keys studded into front pocket. Mobile phone pouch. rear access etc. Goes with the silver earrings. Tonight is dinner with Ray Knox Izzys big brother. We are picking him up in Spring Hill and heading down to Fortitude VALLEY. I want to look at THE EMPORIUM. Saw it on the internet this morning. Heaps of vegetarian options by the look of it. The City continues in tropical rain and clouds . I have used more umbrellas since I came to this " drought stricken" city than at any time in my life. Then Tomorrow we go south in the Charade - for Jamiesons. Had hoped to do the NA in Bardon but dinner is on and I have done 2 in 2 days. Then next week seems Kate and I will be driving south in the Charade. Well the week after. That means I see her and IMM and the house at Kalang on Nioka. Then I go to Armidale on the Keans - WE'RE KEAN TO HAVE YOU TRAVEL WITH US - Coach and spend some days with the children. AT LAST ! izzy tells me he saw the end of the rainbow at the Cottage. I do hope thats so. RAINBOW AT THE COTTAGELeave a Comment { Last Page } { Page 11 of 90 } { Next Page } |
