When we arrived at The Causeway (between Yeppoon and Emu Park), this pelican was perched on a pylon in the water. He was pretty much just sleeping, and was getting a little boring. Then one of the kids found the remains of a fish lying on the shore, so... boys being boys... it was tossed into the water. This got the pelican up and moving though. He swam over quite close and ate the fish... I got this shot as he was trying to swallow it.





He hung around for a bit, just in case there was more. He even tried fishing for himself... rather unsucessfully, though.





I love the colours they have in their beaks. I haven't touched the colour levels in any of these shots.





I tried this shot as he swam in front of the sun flare on the water. It didn't quite work as I wanted it to, but I kind of like it anyway.
