Go down to any beach around the Emu Park area and you'll find that they contain a lot of rocks. Rocks on the beach are an extra bargain. Not only do they harbour little rock pools filled with interesting little creatures, but they hold the secrets of millions of years too. Fossils aplenty... one of my favourite things... just lying around everywhere, waiting to be discovered.
Anyone for some million year old worms??
You can just see where the lava from some ancient volcano has pooled, cooled and cracked.
Use your imagination... this could be either the remains of a huge clam-type shell or the remnants of volcanic bubbles...
And when you look at these huge shaley monuments you can appreciate that some force must have pushed them upwards like that. You can almost visualise the continental shelves slamming together all those millions of years ago. I love rocks.
