• Sunday 1 October 2006 - Yeppon Beach

We've been out and about a bit since our move. I thought I'd use that as an excuse to show you all a bit about our local area. We've taken the kids down to the beach a few times... this beach is in the main Yeppoon area. It was choppy this day... not so rough that there was foam on the water's edge, but the receding waves were making a nice pattern on the beach.

We took myriads of shots of the kids, and after all the fun we took a little stroll around. We found some little crabs... my daughter brought one to me to preserve for posterity.

Then when we looked carefully, we found that there was life everywhere. How many life-forms can you name?

We left the beach in search for something to fill the rapidly growing holes in our bellies. On the way I made the driver stop so that I could get this shot of a local having his lunch. He was gliding in a strong updraft while chewing away at whatever it is that he's holding in his talons.

Fish and chips in hand, we stopped on top of wreck point for lunch. I liked the look of this sign.

Then we made some new friends... some of them nicer than others. This guy has no foot on his left leg. He wasn't doing too badly though. The able-bodied seagulls were busy trying to chase him away, but he was quick. He managed to get his fair share of the spoils.

I almost wasn't going to show you this one... it's kind of freaky, somehow...
