Woah, what a weekend. Saturday and Sunday were both spent packing and moving the big stuff... lounges, cuboards, bookshelves. We got most of it packed and stored away. Mick and Macca were our godsends. Two harder working young fellas, you won't meet. We couldn't keep up with them... bloody hell, we're getting old... but they kept us motivated. I doubt we would have managed without them. All the thanks in the world guys... not that either of them read this... I just love 'em.
God, we've got some stuff. I thought so after the last move, but we seem to have a lot more now. I suppose... we've bought a few pieces of furniture since we've been here, and managed to fill them up with stuff. We're both hoarders... we have stuff that I've been hanging onto for years, kid's stuff galore, books (BOOKS!), stuff that Gryph's had for years, more that he inherited, lots of stuff we've bought together... and a large portion of it is old shit that we've found on our excavations somewhere.... old bottles, coins, buttons, rusty old stuff, etc.
But I think most of it has to do with the way we're moving this time. Last time, a lot of it was just tossed into the nearest receptacle with the intention of sorting it as it came out. By the time we got around to it we just seemed to find somewhere to store it and it got hidden away. Oh, we did get rid of a heap of stuff last time too, but this time we've been absolutely ruthless... you'd be proud of us. I was going to load up some pics of the bonfire we had, but I'm running out of time this morning, so I'll do it sometime else. At the moment we've got our dining table, two chairs and computer... and a flash looking workstation it is too... a desk, the tv, the washing machine, a couple of tool cupboards (plus the cupboards that are locked in the shed), tools and clothes, linen etc. Most of this has been culled already. We'll see if we can get the van again one night this week and we should get all of that in a load without a drama. Anything smaller that's left over... boxes, suitcases, etc... can go in the wagon whenever we're going in.
Anyway, quick plan of action for us... We'll be gone from here by Thursday at 3pm. By then everything should be gone. We couldn't get a truck, so Gryph brought the work van home. It's one of those tall Mercedes ones, and let me tell you... that thing can hold some crap. We did 3 trips over the weekend and managed to take most of the big furniture. Now, as I said, we have a lot of stuff... think about it... we have 5 kids' worth of stuff, for a start. Add to that the house-full of furniture that I owned, the house-full of furniture that Brad owned, and a half a house-full that his Mum owned. Aannd... that's just inside the house. I won't mention the workshop full of tools, wire, fishing gear and various other blokey stuff that makes up Gryph's tool-y collection. Then there's my rocks... but I won't go there. Let's just say that I was ruthless.
So, today I want to pack the smaller stuff and get it ready to move. Tomorrow I might have to work for half a day, so I might book the lawns in for the afternoon. Wednesday, cleaning and packing all of that stuff you always leave for last. Thursday we should be able to take the dregs into town and fix up anything that we might have forgotten.
*how do you write that little grunty sound that kids make when they don't want to clean up their room and you insist... the one that they make as they're shaking themselves up and down with their face all screwed up?*
There's so much more to do...
Gotta go... school run... work run... then back to it. *that noise again*

What a mission - you guys are doing well though.
Is so hard to cull and be ruthless - especially when there are so many memories involved. Moving is a nightmare at the best of times.....am so glad you have had the help you have had. (any more pics of the nephew?? oh dear....:O)
Take care...deep breath...hmmmph.
