This is the first in the series of dodgy lived-in places. No, that's a joke... I guess... nah, don't worry, it wasn't all that bad. This is the last place that we lived in. We did actually choose to live here. It's big, silver and beautiful. The Shed measured 7m x 15m, had a wonderful silver interior and no restricting walls. Our walls were our cupboards. We did have a workable shower and toilet, so that was a plus... and we had a kitchen. And we had power, routed from the power pole by industrial powercords and then diverted through the shed using many more powercords and quite a few powerboards. There was a phone line connected there too, but we chose not to have that on... it would spoil the peace. The surroundings are what we really loved there... 53 acres of mostly natural bushland. Only about... ooh... 10 acres maybe... had been cleared. The rest was Native Dry Vine Forest, some of it classified as essential habitat and fully protected under law. When you walked through the dry creeks on the property you found multitudes of mini climates... some dryer, some viney, some clearer, some rockier, some with karst rock. My favourite was the rainforest that had been protected. It would only have been 10 or 15 acres in size, but under the canopy it smelled like a rainforest, it felt cooler like a rainforest, and when you looked around you could almost fool yourself into thinking that you were a hundred miles from any civilisation.

The property was next to a beautiful mountain in the national park. Needless to say... been there, done that. We spent a few hours climbing it one day because we wanted to check out the outcrop of karst that we could see from our place. Karst is limestone rock... where there's karst there's a good chance that there are caves. We found the outcrop... the two whole boulders... and sat on top of them as we had a little break. Kind of an anti-climax, but a fun day of climbing and a wonderful memory nonetheless.

Our old chook pen. This one was pulled down and we built a better one. I like the pic though.

And sunsets like this.... need I say more?

This is an autostitched panorama taken from the top of the driveway. Click on the image and it should get bigger.

If it was my choice I'd be way out in the red dirt country, as far away from other civilisation as I could be. Mod cons are really not that important to me and the trade off would be worth it.
