There were two koalas having a snooze at the gardens today. This one looks in just as precarious spot as the other one (
see gryphonn's blog). They just crack me up everytime I look at them.

Dingos are pretty amazing animals. I almost feel funny about posting this photo. These dingos are fatter and much better fed than any you see in the wild. They're naturally leaner than this one. It was feeding time, so we got some better shots than the usual sleeping or staring shots. These dogs looked really cute though, when they put the meat down and stopped chewing. But don't be deceived... these animals have been the death of two of our dogs. In both cases wild dingos attacked the dogs, targetting their stomach areas to cause the most damage. One had her femoral artery severed and would have bled out in a matter of minutes. The other had severe intestinal damage. Dingos are wild animals, and can do just as much damage as a wolf. or coyote could. When they bite they bite for a purpose.

How can anyone look at this and deny that they are only a step away from us on the evolutionary chain? When you sit and 'talk' to the chimps you can see the intelligence. Their eyes are amazing. This one regularly sits closest to where the humans turn up, and he 'plays' with the kids. If you nod your head, he does the same thing. I've even seen him make hand gestures as he apes (excuse the pun) the people staring in at him.

Need a new handbag? Or a pair of shoes? I won't bother giving you the blurb about 'Salties',
just have a look at
Gryphonn's entry.

This is either a Jungle Carpet Python or Diamond Python... we think. The snake cage was abuzz today. It was a bit warmer and the residents were restless. There were a few of these, all doing their own thing.

• Saturday 26 August 2006 - Definitely not a carpet, head looks like a jungle.
