Look what I found on the way to pick LM8 up from school today. Isn't he a cutie. He was on the side of the road, and at first I thought he was a stick, sitting there with his head up in the air like that. He didn't move a muscle, even when I pulled the car up and reversed back. Yes, I was very careful to watch him in case he decided to do a runner under the wheels. Then he just sat there and looked at me while I snapped away. He was still there when we made the return trip, but he had turned himself a little. He didn't run away until LM8 got just a little too close. So, this is where you prove yourself, Gabby. What is he?
Not sure which sub-species he is because there are many. Isn't he handsome! Different species have a different colour inside their mouth which can also depend on which region they're from. We are only allowed to keep the minor minor's over here which are quite small (I have two pet ones at home). He looks like he was easily the length of a man's hand from nose to back legs? I'm not sure which species you get over there. Thank you! I know something useful!!!! :o)
Nose to hind legs he was about 20 - 25 cm long.
A quick story: (This is Gryphonn) My best mate from school and I used to keep B-D's as free range pets. We'd catch them and bring them home and release them in our back yards. One day, we found one that was close to 90cm long (from nose to tip of tail). Its head was around ten centimetres (or four inches) at its widest point. Well, we took it to school in a hessian bag and let it go in the science block just as the classes were leaving the rooms. We caused a stampede of screaming students to the other end of the science block! Then we whipped it back into the bag and bolted. Never got caught!
This is the eastern, or 'common' bearded dragon.
The BIG one I told the story of above was the same colour as the minor minor, but it was HUGE. However, minor minors are local to WA. Maybe my memory is a bit off...
BTW, I'm not describing these from memory, I checked my reptile book to make sure
:o)
You're the reptile geek, not me. I have to read a book to look reptile savvy.

Tinacee has thing with wildlife. They'll put up with her taking pics from very close range. Me however, well, I must have an odour or something they don't like. Maybe theyve seen me dispatch the odd kangaroo, or the big goat or something. They tend not to get too close to me, or bolt when I arrive with my camera.
