Australia's Noisiest Bloggers List

I don't know how or why but this blog made it onto Australia' s Noisiest Blogger list, at number 35 seeing you asked. My Vox blog, cewatticey, is at number 699. The compiler of the list admits his methodology was a bit dodgy so maybe that has something to do with it. The number is the total of backlinks to the blog according to Yahoo, curiously 2 other Blognow blogs have exactly the same number of backlinks but I'm listed first (why?).

Anyway I seem to have achieved a undeserved level of notoriety so if you are visiting because of the list, welcome and enjoy.

Celebrating the Common Man

As the European history of Australia is quite short we sometimes don't give it the recognition it deserves. When we do we often concentrate on the extraordinary, the unusual. The problem with that is we forget the common man, those just doing their job. They may have lived lives we now find special but they didn't intend that.

In Longreach there is the Stockman's Hall of Fame that recognises the contribution of the man on the land. While some attention is given to explorers it mainly shows how those who opened up the outback lived. A recommended experience for all Australians.

Photography in Danger

I have posted a story on my other blog regarding attacks on the right to take photographs. Please read it and show your support for protecting our rights.

Moonrise

Appearing through the trees mid afternoon, the moon puts in an appearance.

Windmill

A common sight all over Australia is the windmill. Although the property looked run down it was still in use as evidenced by the cattle. Not sure about the windmill though.

Are You Being Served?

Must be hard to get good staff in the outback. Seen at a Roadhouse near Alice.

Price of Progress

The Hunter Valley is one of the most interesting places in Australia. It is possible to see everything from historic towns, through vineyards to pristine nature. However large areas have been devastated to obtain the coal that is under the whole area.

Wait for Me

It was a very warm day and he was doing his best but those little legs weren't go to let him catch his mate.  When he took a few short cuts his trainer made him do it again but he was still enjoying himself.

Wings

Modern vehicles no long sport hood emblems, with a few exceptions. I know they are a danger to pedestrians but I feel we are the poorer for their disappearance.
