This eclectic Northern Rivers line up was initially formed for roving acoustic blues & Rockabilly performances & a desire to have a bit of fun.

The Bandits have brought on board their various individual baggage including, Boogie Woogie Blues, Rock a Billy, 50s Rock & Roll, Swing Jazz & 20s Folk-blues.

Just a bit about the players: -

Dr Scrubby Pete, plays white-hot guitar & vocals, he started playing various  tunings on guitars before he started noticing girls. He is the alchemist and ringleader of this lineup, & when he grows up he will become a real businessman, a successful lion tamer or a brilliant slide guitar player.

Dennis Rollin D Gale is on slap bass & vocals. Rollin is best known as the bass player with Rockinitis for some 12 years. During this time the band played support for greats such as Charlie & the Night Cats, Rod Piazza & were the backing band for Big Bad Smitty at the East Coast Blues Festival. Rollin D, loves his Rock-a-Billy.

Peter Jaggle being director of Drum Oz Percussion Solutions, obviously plays percussion on just about anything ! His credits include composing film soundtracks for the ABC and NZBC, jingles in the commercial arena & conducting workshops all over Australasia and internationally.

PJ has played with some of the big names in Oz including, John English, John Williamson and John Farhnam to name a few Johns, Jesus Christ Superstar Show &  international star Dionne Warwick.

He is the founder of the Young Drums School of Percussion, which have performed at most major venues in Australia, including Sydney Entertainment Centre, The Sydney Opera House, The Melbourne Concert Hall & more.

So after all that The Blokes have performed at many Australian music festivals including Tamworth country, East Coast Blues & Roots (Byron), Maleny-Woodford Folk, Bellingen Jazz, Blues on Broadbeach, Art, Food & Jazz at Kingscliff & many other festivals.

The Hillbilly Blues Bandits write much of their material but draw from a wealth of ideas dating back to the start of the 1900s. Influences can be detected from the likes of Big Joe Williams, Memphis Minnie, Charley Patton, Kokomo Arnold, Willie Johnson, Tampa Red, & contemporaries like Robert Nighthawk, Muddy Waters, & many more. In the Rockabilly/ Rock & Roll field, influences come from Elvis, Jerry Lee, Carl Perkins, Little Richard, Chuck Berry, Johnny Burnett & more. If you havent heard of these old legends (not the band!), then you should get out & catch the HBB. Its cheaper than buying the old records.
