This eclectic Northern Rivers line up was initially formed for roving acoustic blues & Rockabilly performances and the desire to have a bit of fun in between other commitments of the large pool of band members.
Having been around since early 2005, the ink had only just dried on their posters & the dust had only started to settle from their first outdoors gigs when the band started gathering momentum & were being offered regular work by venues & festivals.
The Bandits have brought on board their various individual baggage including, Boogie Woogie Blues, Rock a Billy, 50s Rock & Roll, Swing Jazz, 20s Folk-blues & many other hybrids of the mood.
With this depth & understanding of music forms the Hillbillies can tailor their show to cover just about any clients requirements.
The players come from several electric roots bands including Mr Kokomo, The Percolators & Rockinitis.
Just a bit about the regular players: -
Dr Scrubby Pete, plays white-hot guitar & vocals, he started playing various tunings on guitars before he started noticing girls. He is the alchemist and ringleader of this lineup & when he grows up he will become a real businessman, a successful lion tamer or a brilliant slide guitar player.
Dennis Rollin D Gale is on slap bass & vocals, & shares the job with Stretch. Rollin is best known as the bass player with Rockinitis for some 12 years. During this time the band played support for greats such as Charlie & the Night Cats, Rod Piazza & were the backing band for Big Bad Smitty at the East Coast Blues Festival. Rollin D, loves his Rock-a-Billy, but this cat can sing in any style.
Peter Jaggle being Director of DrumOz Percussion Solutions, obviously plays percussion on just about anything ! His credits include composing film soundtracks for the ABC and NZBC, jingles in the commercial arena & conducting workshops all over Australasia and internationally.
