13 October 2008 8:33 AM Senator Kate Lundy together with the Friends of the Australian National Botanic Gardens are sponsoring a forum on "The Future of the Australian National Botanic Gardens".
Time: 5.30pm - 8.00pm Where: Finkle Theatre, John Curtin School, Garran Rd, Australian National University The forum will comprise two panels: Panel 1: Adapting to Climate Change Panel One will discuss the ANBG’s role in studying flora adaptation in climate change and opportunities for research partnerships now and into the future. Speakers include: Prof. Will Steffen from the ANU Climate Change Institute, Dr Judy West, Director of the Centre for Plant Biodiversity and Research and Prof. Sue Serjeantson, science consultant. Panel 2: The Gardens and the National Capital Panel Two will discuss the national importance of the ANBG and its role as an icon in the National Capital. Speakers include: Barry Cohen, former Minister for Arts, Heritage and Environment and Ms Anne Duncan, Director of the ANBG.
