Dictionaries for Common and Scientific Names |

If you write a newsletter or do any other writing where you need to include plant names, then you've probably misspelled a few names over the years. I know I have! And not just a few!Fortunately, help is at hand.
There are several specialist add-in dictionaries for common word processing programs that will pick up errors in the spelling of scientific and common names. Here are some that you might find useful:
- Australian Native Flora Dictionary - South Australian Society member Howard Harvey has developed this add-in dictionary containing over 23,600 genera and species names.
- Dictionary for Common and Scientific Plant Names - this one is from the Tasmanian Department of Primary Industries and Water.
- Scientific Plant Names Dictionary - from the Western Australian Herbarium.
