Sue Rostas

24 July 2008 8:28 AM

If you aren't a member of the New South Wales Region of ASGAP (more particularly the Newcastle District Group), then the name Sue Rostas may not be familiar.

Sue died on 11 July.  She was the ASGAP Secretary and her passing was as sudden as it was unexpected.  She collapsed during a function on Ash Island (part of the Kooragang Wetland Rehabilitation Project, Newcastle) - a special planting day organised as part of World Youth Day.  She could not be revived.

I didn't know Sue personally but we corresponded often on ASGAP matters.  She is a great loss to the Society and our sincere condolences go out to her family and friends.

A farewell service was held outdoors at the Awabakal Nature Reserve on 18 July with over 200 people in attendance  It was fine, sunny, and the kookaburras decided to take part in the service. A musical interlude was a recording of son, Andrew, playing the piano - a composition of his own.
