Favourites: Myoporum floribundum

8 May 2007 10:18 AM

Leigh Murray has sent this contribution about one of her favourite plants:

"You asked for favourite plants.

One of our favourite plants is Myoporum floribundum. It has such a graceful form, with delicate drooping foliage. When the plant is flowering (usually in summer), we're continually stopped in our tracks by the sight of tiny white flowers dusting the tops of the branches like snow. A medium-sized shrub, it's frost and drought hardy. And it's charmingly easy to propagate (just put a piece in a glass of water until roots form, then pot it up or even plant it straight out).

Beautiful, hardy and oh-so-reproducible...."

Thank's Leigh - a truely great garden plant but very under-rated, unfortunately.

There's a bit more information on the ASGAP website and here's a closer look at the flowers.

Remember, if you have a plant that you particularly like and that might be of interest to others through 'Gumnuts', write a paragraph or two about it and drop me an email.
