And I love knowing that in this hectic world, I can sit down and make something useful and beautiful. Often, other people wonder why I would do this when I could buy a rug at Walmart for ten dollars. I think that the point is slowing down and enjoying the journey, even if it is taking much longer than I originally thought that it would...."

the search for an idea12 October 2008
With the advent of a porta dvd into my life and the subsequent ability to watch movies in bed I have been stacking up a pile of discs beside the bed. I don't usually remember to put the discs back when I am ready for sleep so they add up. Then they get knocked down, dusty and eventually scratched. To avoid this and have a place to store them, safely, until I get around to putting them away I wanted a pattern for a 'cd hanger' built along the lines if one of those show hanger things.

I know what I was lokoing for, but I had no idea what it would be called. A search through the old memory files had me remembering a crocheted cd hanger thing. From there I searched for 'wall pockets,' then 'pocket hanger',  and finally "hanging pocket organizer."

Heres one that uses a wooden coat hanger. I didn't want this type, although further thinking by my subconscious says that would be a good way to hang it.

This is sort of what I wanted. The sort I want to make won't have such loose pockets. They will only need to hold up to two discs. I am not sure just how many pockets I want though. If I find a wooden hanger then I think two discs wide by three should do. Maybe 3 by 3. Not sure how wide wooden hangers are. Here is a 3x3 organiser.

I need to think about the construction and then unearth some nifty fabric. Shall I use all the same fabric for the pockets or different? Fun stuff. Hey, I could make it double sided even.
