23/1/2010 - casting chores

Spent today doing a cast of Question.  A difficult job as the mould leaves a lot to be desired. I am trying to work out if it would be worth it to spend a few hundred dollars on silicon to make a new one or to struggle along with this one.

It definetly creates a lot of work in the cleaning up stage with seams etc.. if the resin of the fill leaks out over the bronze it is hours of sanding to get rid of it.

so I won't find out til tommorrow if I have hours of sanding or if I v'e been lucky.

Also I have done four prints of Divers for a customer who wants a particular wash and it is not easy to manipulate wet washes to get exactly the right depth of colour to  match another.

Ive been very lucky with my new gallery in Montville as they have sold  everything and are waiting for more. That's this week's job.. along with a start on my painting commission. I have been doing colour studies for those.

7/1/2010 - Hit the ground running!

What a start to the new year... putting in long hours to finish the work for Red Hill. I should be ready for images by the weekend (well I have to!)

Then I will be trying to do as many cold cast pieces as possible.. I have a few commissions waiting for the little girls from an old customer and then I want to do some for Manly...big ones as well as small..

Also my new little gallery in Maleny ( Main Galllery) is selling fast as well...

I have to say that Im incredibly lucky that I have a man such as Laurie... He has devoted this week to helping me.. all the washing up, shopping and he is finishing and mounting two pieces for me for the show as well..

AND he bought me this.. SO much better than the ol Dremel.

13/12/2009 - Documentation Day

Yesterday I spent the day documenting my new work for an exhitition in February

Its a job which is well out of the way.. timeconsuming and fiddly to set the back drop up and get the work looking its best.

What did we ever do without digital photography?

12/10/2009 -

Once again a long overdue studio update.

Pb's and this

The feet are very important to give the attitude and personality.. This is the only reason I like to do my girls. They have to be gawky beautiful.... it;s all in the feet.

And this week I start three little paintings for Mali... they have to be colourful and because it's her first art they have to be good.. very good...

3/9/2009 -

Bout time I paid attention to this sadly neglected journal.

In the studio this week I started another welded bronze. Life size, one of the pieces planned for inclusion in a show in February.

Also I am just about to do a mould on a new little Lovers piece for cold cast. This one is tiny.

My forest painting is coming along and if Im happy with it I will enter in the Gold Coast.

Last week I placed new cards on the work on show at Waterfront Place.

This week marks the start of Tattersall's Art Prize and we will be hanging it on Sunday, then everyday in at Tattersalls with sales.

I am still mucking round trying to iron out all the problems with MYOB, seems I had the accounts set up wrongly..

I put our tax info in with the accountant today and Im glad thats done.

My new little grandaughter is absolutely adorable... I can't see her until end of September..

19/8/2009 - hiking and cold casting

Spent a beautiful weekend at Bald Rock. Veging and hiking. The first night was spoilt with a group of pesky teenagers. (old much?)  They decided this remote.silent, beautiful site was a good place for a drunken party, running round with torches and loud music and whoops etc.. We gritted our teeth and waited for the next night which was perfect! Silence, watching the fire and looking at the amazing stars..

Back in the studio today working to get three cold cast pieces for a client at Mt Tamborine, printing and tommorrow will be meeting with the powers that be at Waterfront to discuss placing the sculptures.

A good weekend working at Manly Gallery coming up and then next week I want to start a new small sculpture and also my new painting needs attention.

River City

Sorry all. I couldn't resist making a new video.

I have started another painting. Also doing casts for Mary and Janene at Mount Tamborine.

Working for APQ on Friday so looking forward to that.

Also an opening here with a friend of ours Marcel Desbiens on Thursday. So that's good.

8/8/2009 - patina day

Busy day finishing the patina on my two new little girls.

On another note... not doing too well with the Tattersalls entry. The painting is now defunct...

Spent yesterday over at West End redoing a finish on a piece which was purchased around 15 years ago. It's nice to see old friends.. The personality of a successful sculpture never diminishes for me..

1/8/2009 - painting excitement

I am tantalizingly close to a good painting.. I am in danger of freezing up....

If only I could let go of the product and concentrate on the process.. it takes discipline.

Yesterday we went into town to get the plinths for the sculpture at Waterfront.. We are going to make them grey.. it will look better in the space.  We are leaving them there as a display. Management likes them.

Joc went into hospital to have her cardiac test and they have put her in the respiratary ward.. she is too sick to have any tests. So again its a case of waiting to see what happens. Poor thing can't have any visitors who have had a cold recently. So that leaves David as the only candidate in Sydney. He will go this afternoon.

Spent the morning doing my first reconciliation with MYOB. After quite a struggle I managed. It might be a small thing but I am rather proud of my self!

26/7/2009 - Waterfront

After a busy week with Art Promotions Queensland

Organica at Waterfront

Its back to work on this

AND a concerted effort to come up with something amazing for Tattersalls.  I will pull out if my results arent really good.. there is always next year.

If I stress about it the work will not happen. I have to be open to possibilities....
