Almost 1!!!

Hi everyone,

Sorry I haven't posted for so long - Mum has been far too busy child-proofing the house to ruin my adventures and playing with Facebook to update you all.

Lots of things have happened - I have been to two weddings in the past month, including one all the way up north in Brisbane.  We had a great holiday driving up there.  I especially enjoyed crawling around the parks and McDonald's playgrounds between Canberra and Brissie.  Mum and Dad were amazed at how well behaved I was!  Plus I got to meet my cousins, and made lots of other friends too.

I mastered the caterpillar/commando crawl during the trip, but I now find a more traditional crawling style gets me around the house faster.  Mum and Dad have had to install gates so that they can occasionally have a break from trying to keep me from playing with my good mate Jazz.  I've also worked out how to go from crawling to sitting, sitting to crawling, crawling to kneeling and crawling to standing at a rapid rate, so that's keeping Mum and Dad pretty busy.  It's lots of fun, though, because I can crawl up to the couch and play peek-a-boo with Jazz, and then poke her in the eye.

I have also gained three more teeth - the left front top tooth and the one next to it cut through a couple of weeks ago, and the right front top tooth cut on the weekend.  I still love all my food, but I especially love fruit, veges, hommus, crackers, sandwiches and the occasional milk arrowroot or two.

Most of all, I'm excited that my Nana and Grandma will be visiting for my first birthday!  I hope they spoil me rotten!  And I'm looking forward to some of my friends visiting for a party.  Can't wait to blow out that single candle!

Love,

Connor xxoo

Happy Father's Day

Happy Father's Day to all the dads out there!!  Hope you're having a fantastic day.  Jazz and I gave our dad-dad a very large stovetop coffee maker to make up for the sleepless nights we've given him, which he loved.

Not much else to report - I am now 8.94 kg and 71 cm according to the nice midwife in the  chemist.  More importantly, I can sort of commando crawl across the floor to get my own toys, but I still prefer Mum and Dad to fetch them for me.  Can't believe I'll be 10 months old next week!

Anyway, I'll post another update and photos soon - hopefully when I'm crawling up a storm.

Love you all!

Nine Months

Hi everyone,

I am now nine months old!  I'm getting better at sitting, but still haven't mastered crawling forwards, which is very frustrating.  I'm sleeping well, which Mum and Dad love.  Plus, I'm eating loads and loads of new foods.  My faves this week are roast chicken and gravy and vegies, Dad's bolognese and any sort of casserole.  I still love fruit, too.  My favourite toy at the moment is newspaper, but I also like to play with blocks and anything else that makes noise.  Other than that, not much else to report - child care is still going well, and at last check I was 8.78 kg.

Here's a pic of me and some of my friends at Mum's Group:

Connor

My First Good Report Card

Hi everyone!

I hope you're all well.  Sorry I have taken so long to add the next installment, but I am a very busy baby.

First of all - a big hug and kiss to Aunty Nic and Uncle Bill who have just given me a little tiny baby cousin named Toni!  Yay - at last a baby smaller than me who I can beat up and steal toys/food from!  And I'm going to meet her for the first time this weekend, which will be exciting.

I've been having lots of fun at Mum's group every week.  All the other babies have learnt how to crawl, and they keep taking my toys and food and water, so I'm going to have to figure out this crawling business really fast.  I had lots of fun playing outside yesterday when we farewelled Cass and Alex who are moving to Townsville.  We'll miss you!!

I now have two teeth - the second one appeared about a week after the first.  I still love my bottles and food.  My favourite foods at the moment are bread, brie or camembert cheese, pear, porridge, yoghurt and pretty much anything I can pinch off other people's plates.  My favourite words this week are "Mum-mum" and "Aaargh!!"

Mum was very excited today - I went to child care and got a good report card for the first time ever.  They told Dad that I played with toys on the floor all day, didn't squeal too much, slept and ate lots and lots of food.  The child care workers were so impressed that they drew a smiley face on my card, and stamped it "Fantastic!"  Mum was so proud that she almost cried, gave me a big kiss and put the report card on the fridge.

I'll sign off now with a couple of pics.  The first one is my new trick - sitting!  (But I can't do it for very long  or I fall over and )  And in the second one, I'm eating my first Vegemite sandwich.

Love,

Connor

My First Tooth... Or, All the Better to Bite Mummy With

Good morning everyone,

My first tooth has cut through, if you didn't figure that out from the title!  I tried to tell Mum and Dad it was coming by waking during the night and refusing to go back to sleep in my cot but they just didn't work it out.  Then I chomped on Mum's hand yesterday and she felt it!  I finally let her and Dad see the tooth in the bath last night.  It is the bottom front left tooth, and it is just slightly out of the gums but should be fully grown any day now.  Teeth are lots of fun - I like sticking my tongue out over it all day to see what it feels like.

Still trying to figure out this whole crawling business - I can go backwards at quite a rapid rate and if Mum and Dad leave the room they have trouble finding me when they come back but forwards is another thing... I'll work it out soon!

I am now 8.4 kg and 69 cm - getting bigger every day!  Must be all the bottles I keep guzzling down.

Love,

Connor

Love to all my fans

Hello again!

It has been another exciting week for me, as always.  I still haven't mastered this crawling forwards business, but I can go backwards pretty fast now, and Mum has to keep rescuing me from under the furniture.  I've been a bit ill for the past couple of weeks, but am much better now.  My appetite is definitely back and Mum's having trouble keeping up enough food to me.  I've been trying some more exotic food lately - lentils, swedes, eggplant, parmesan cheese, chicken mince, spinach, pasta - but my favourite thing in the morning is a bowl of porridge with fruit and yoghurt.  I've also been drinking bottles of something Mum calls formula, which is great because I can feed myself the bottle while Mum has a cup of tea.

I've been learning lots of new stuff as well.  I had another swimming lesson yesterday, which is one of my favourite things to do.  I've also been playing in my bouncer/jumper thingy, and have finally worked out how to jump so I can play while Mum makes my food for me in the kitchen.  I can also roll a ball, but mostly I just like to chew things.  Jazz and I are getting to be really good friends - she loves to play with me around meal times, and cleans up the extra crumbs for Mum.  She even lets me pat her every now and again!

Anyway, I'd better go - I have an exciting day at child care today, while Mum goes and gets her hair cut!

Love,

Connor

Hi Everyone!!

Hi everyone,

Sorry I haven't written anything for so long but we have been very, very busy and there are lots of exciting stories to share with you all.  A few weeks ago I started swimming lessons.  Mum dresses me up in a special aqua nappy (dad reckons they look like budgie smugglers) and a little wetsuit and then takes me to a giant bath tub filled with lots of mums and bubs.  We get to play games and sing songs (although Mum's really lame and doesn't know any of the words) and I even get to put my head under water!  Although, I learnt that you get very sick if you drink too much pool water.

I've also been going to child care on Fridays, which is lots of fun.  The first week was a bit boring, so I asked to leave after 15 mins and they kindly called Mum to come and get me.  I figured she'd be a bit lonely without me.  But last week I stayed for a whole 3 hours!  Mum got lots of housework done while I was there, so then we could play all afternoon.

Mum also bought me a thing called a Jolly Jumper - she puts me in a harness and I just hang in the doorway and try to walk.  I'm not sure why they call it a 'jumper': hanging out in it is fun though.

I'll try and put some more news up soon, and also get Mum to post some pics!

Love,

Connor

PS.  Did I mention that I am now 8 kg and 68.5 cm?

We have movement (well, backwards anyway)

Hello again!

It's been another busy few days for me.  On Friday Mum took me to a child care centre to have a bit of a look around and so she could fill in some boring paperwork (no idea what that's all about).  The other kids were all having fun, drinking bottles and crawling and they had heaps of rattles to play with but Mum kept cuddling me and looking sad for some reason.  She said next Friday she'd bring me back and I could have a play with the other kids for as long as I liked.

On Friday afternoon I decided to drink a whole bottle of milk to make Mum happy because she'd looked so sad.  And then I decided to have a bit of fun by hiding every time she left the room, and then she couldn't find me when she came back!  Oh, it was so much fun, but I kept getting stuck under coffee tables, which are very boring.  I've been very busy, and have managed to get on to my hands and knees and rock, but I haven't quite worked out how to move forwards - instead, I keep slipping backwards and getting stuck and then I have to call for Mum and Dad to come and rescue me.  Here's some pictures of my new tricks:

I've also managed my first word - "DAD!!".  Since I'm so proud of my achievement, I like to say it as often as I can, and as loudly as possible.

Anyway, I'd better go - I'm going to try and get the hang of this crawling business so that Mum can brag to her Mum's group (none of the others are crawling yet, so I might be the first!!)!

Love,

Connor

Happy Mother's Day

Hi everyone,

Well, it has been another hectic week for me.  Sunday was a pretty special day - Mum's first Mother's Day so Dad made a big fuss of her.  I knew that what Mum really wanted was to spend all day with me, so I was a good boy and refused to have any naps or be separated from Mum at all.

Mum has some crazy notion about me needing to drink from a bottle or a cup, so she's been giving me cups all week.  She's finally found me one that is super easy to drink from, because I don't like to work very hard for my milk.  I don't understand all the fuss - why do I need to drink from a cup when Mum's on call all day every day??

On Tuesday Mum dressed me up to go out, which usually means we're going to the mall.  But this time she took me to see the doctor.  Normally I like the doctor - he makes lots of funny faces and voices for me, but lately every time I see him he whacks a needle in my leg.  The indignity of it!  Then to make it worse he whacks one in the other leg when I think the ordeal's over.

Today was much better - we actually went to the mall today, and Mum had me weighed at the chemist.  I'm almost 8 kg (with my clothes on - a much nicer way to be weighed, I think), which means I've been eating really well.  This week I've tried oat porridge (nowhere near as nice as the rice stuff), carrots, parsnips, natural yoghurt and cheese.  But I love rusks best of all.  Except I keep forgetting I have them and then Jazz pinches them when Mum's out of the room.

Anyway, that's enough from me.  I hope all the Mum's had a lovely Mother's Day and I look forward to seeing you all soon!!

Love,

Connor

Six Months Old!!

Hi everyone,

Well, it has been a very exciting and busy couple of weeks for me.  I had my first plane ride, all the way to Melbourne, and then got to kick back in Geelong for a week and a half.  Waiting an hour in the airport for the plane was extremely boring, so I tried to speed things up by loudly speaking my mind just prior to getting on the plane.  Mum must have been getting annoyed too, because she seemed really stressed.  Unfriendly bunch of passengers, too - everyone just glared at us for some reason.  You think they'd appreciate the effort I was going to.  Can't recall the plane ride - just remember drifting off as the plane took off and then waking up in Melbourne in time to see Nana.  Flying is fun!!

I had a great time in Geelong hanging out with Mum's family, especially Liam and Nikki.  They are lots of fun (much more fun than boring old Mum) and we had a great time playing every day.  And we all went shopping in Melbourne and bought me lots of cute new clothes.  I had so much fun, that I never wanted to be away from everyone so at least five times a night I suggested that Mum might like to feed me some more (I am a growing boy afterall) so I could keep my energy up.  Don't know what was wrong with her - she looked like rubbish all week...  Here's a picture of me in my fave pyjamas - my second cousin Liam has a matching pair.

It's been pretty boring since I got back to Canberra, as one would expect.  Mum keeps trying to convince me that I should have more naps, but I know it's just a clever ruse so that she can try and spend some time without me.  Although I can't complain too much because she always cooks me some new and exciting meals for my dinner while I have my afternoon nap.  My faves this week have been avocado, eggplant and potato-and-apple mash.

Anyway, I better go, we have a very busy week ahead of us.  Grandma and Grumppa are visiting for a few days and Mum and I are hosting Mothers' Group this week. Plus, Mum keeps hinting that Dad and I should go shopping for something that's happening this Sunday.  Can't think what it might be...

Love to all my peeps,

Connor

Update

I've just been to the nurse, who informed me that I am now a hefty 7.26 kg and 67 cm long.  So I haven't gotten any taller in the past month (although I am stil on the 85th percentile), but have put on a whole 600 grams (putting me on the 50th percentile at long last).  In case that percentile stuff is too confusing, I'm basically a long, skinny baby - I'm exactly average weight, but much taller than average.

Thanks for your comments Uncles Dane and Will - Mum says you can borrow me whenever you feel like it!  Thanks to Dane, Will, Anj, Nick and Steph for all visiting me on Sunday - I had a lovely time but it was so exciting that I needed an extra long nap in the afternoon.  Let's do it again soon!

PS I will be in Geelong being spoilt by my Nanna and Pop for the next couple of weeks, but will send an update after that.

Love,

Connor

In the beginning...

I was born on 06 November 2006 in Canberra.  I weighed 3200 grams and was 51.5 cm long.  I was, of course, an absolutely gorgeous baby right from the beginning as I am sure everyone who has met me would agree.

After almost a week in the hospital, Mum and Dad managed to escape the midwives and bring me home for the first time, where I promptly fell asleep.  I was a wonderful sleepy newborn, only waking up for feeds and cuddles every few hours and then falling straight back to sleep.  Here's a picture of me taken at about 1 week old.

I have grown much bigger and stronger since then.  I was last measured and weighed on 19 March when I was 6.66 kg and 67 cm long.  Mum and Dad are having me measured and weighed this Monday, so I'll keep you posted on how much weight I've gained.

Here are another few photos of me.  The one on the left was taken at about one month, and the one on the right at about two months.

My First Blog Entry

Good afternoon everyone.  My name is Connor, and this is my first blog, where my beloved mum intends to carefully record all my important milestones, and post the occasional picture so that you can all keep up with my exciting adventures!

I am now five months of age and mum has lost track of how much weight I keep gaining.  My favourite things are eating (I love peaches and rice cereal best of all), having a splash in the bath and playing on the floor.  I am desperately trying to crawl at the moment, mostly so that I can get to my toys and to harass Jazz, mum and dad's fur baby.  My least favourite thing is going down for a nap, because I really dislike the idea of Mum and Dad having any time to themselves and me not being the centre of the universe.

Well, that's enough for my first attempt at blogging - as I only have a short attention span, Mum only gets a limited amount of time to type!

Love to all my adoring fans,

Connor.
