Yuck!!!

Master 10 came home from school camp yesterday afternoon; three days at Lake Macquarie spent canoeing, fishing, playing all sorts of games and generally, having a lot of fun. I had left his washing to do until this morning - was far too tired to tackle it yesterday - and that is done, no problem. BUT his small backpack - which he usually takes to school with him - not good at all.

Had bought him new joggers a couple of weeks ago - he took those with him...but didn't wear them home. Now I know why. He'd worn the new joggers while canoeing - and the canoeing turned into swimming (yes, he and the boys he was with fell out.) So the joggers were put into the backpack wet. They were shoved in there with a jumper and a few other bits and pieces - including a bag which had some fishing things like sinkers, hooks and, from what I could see, left over bits of prawns (bait).

Now, Lake Macquarie is a salt water lake and, from what he has said, it wasn't really ideal for swimming in - especially not swimming in with clothes and shoes on (this is not a nice chlorinated pool or a lovely beach) not that he cared much. And, well, if it smells anything like that backpack smells - definitely not my idea of a pleasant place to swim.

The stench!!! OMG!! That not so lovely off fish smell - all nicely sealed inside that backpack - I almost gagged when I opened the zipper. His new shoes - well, they look ok but they do not smell good at all. The jumper - ditto. The backpack itself - ewwwwwwwwwwwww.

Now the laundry stinks - have got the door to the backyard opened hoping it will air out (considering I am expecting a visitor *grins* tomorrow I do not want this lingering about - could be needing to get the incense out tonight methinks.)

The shoes need to be wearable by tomorrow - he has a PSSA cricket match to play...heaven help his classmates at school if they don't smell 100 times better than they do at this point in time by then.

Unbelievable lad, unbelievable...I just hope none of the other kids presented their mums with similar.

great place to swim

yes it is a really really great place to swim and i think i can somewhat top that one.
a few yrs ago i went to the usa for a month and when i came back to sydney i hadnt washed for about a week as i wasnt in the mood in san fran to go looking for a place to wash cloths and when i got back i made the mistake of putting the dirty cloths into the car instead of the presents and when driving along the car started to stink something bad esp because of the sock's.
when we got home after about 90 mins on the rd i went out to the back of the house where the machine was and opened up the bag and the dog came in and took one look and turned its noise up at the cloths and backed right away.
so you can imange just how bad the dog thought it was and i had it next to me on the back seat in the car much to my brothers delight

I hope I am commenting on the right entry :-(

Sorry CC that does sound strange but for the last 10 minutes I have been refreshing this post a comment and it has finally come up and I forgot which entry I am commenting on - I think it is the fishy backpack one. You know what given the trouble I am having, I may just comment on two entries at once that will be the best way to go.

I think every Mum wonders what they will discover in their boys luggage when they come back from a school camp, especially one that involves either the beach or fishing. The incense sounds like a very good idea and another bonus with that idea, your son will hate the smell of the incense if he is a typical boy - Pay back!!!

B/Sheep you have no excuse you were a bit more grown up when you let things get a bit stinky and I can only imagine how bad it was, if a dog turns around and walks away ;-P

Comment Number Two: The placement of eyes when looking at men. I think I better not comment and that is all I will say ;-P

Big Smiles,
Chezza<:-)
