BILLY'S PAGE OF BILAMBIL BLUES CLUB

First week of 2008 attacked the Club with a Pluto and Mars Opposition. Billy and the Bass Player were up on the Hill digging trenches and ducking when the lightning flashed. Bass Played was out back in parkha and old Grosby shoes shovelling water out of the back passage as fast as he could. Bill reckoned it was fortunate that years of playing Rock n Roll had him moving in a flooding rhythm nicely honed on Thursday Night down at JOhnny Carrs night when JC gave him a guest spot with route 66 and a couple of other rollicking numbers.

Bill reckoned things werent looking good Thursday Night. He don't get to Johnny's night much anymore due to the Brisbane commitments but its holiday time and so down they go in the Charade. The Star Wagon hasnt gone anywheres for a week due to the sodden driveway.

Now BIlls feeling a bit dubious due to his Bellingen background. He can feel a flood coming - in his waters. Mentioned it cautiously in the Club and copped a few of the " you've only been here 7 years you dont know what youre talking about " looks. So he approached Bob the Artist and Boydie - and sure enough they could feel it in their waters too.

Bob told him a few tales about his causeways and the big 4 wheel drive and the rock he uses to measure the water depth. and Boydie said ONE MORE DUMP.

So Bass Player and Bill tackle Banora Coles on Friday morning and stock up ( ate it all the same day but the intention was AOK ) Then they were in for the remainder.
Round midnight strange lights and vehicle noises down on the road. Seeming to stop around Les and Kates which didnt make sense. But Flooding dont make sense. Looked like lights over at Jets and a misty light down at Bilambil Sports.

Saturday morning - up and about and down - to the village and the Club is TRASHED. Fences down. The Carpark broken up and washed on the playing fields. Bill and the Bass duck over the Village Store and leave the Telstra Petition asking them to GIVE OUR PHONES BACK . Chat about the disasters. Helen and Bob the Artist appear from beyond the Causeways and then back to the Club where there are 2 carpet cleaning trucks in and dishevelled survivors. Steve and Jaki and Pete Livingston and Kenny and MORE.

Bill had another of those heart stoppers he gets each time he see what a few minutes flooding can do. Putting some fotos up so you can see how bad things got down there. Dont know how you can help but a word of encouragement at least or an extra membership or something. Buy a meal or a few drinks. Come and listen to the music. Ask what help they need . Give some support to this Club of ours which is SMASHED. Volunteers were down there at day start pitching in as they do. But its a sorrowful thing to see. Steve and Jaki were there . Pretty sure Steve said he slept on the pool table and Jaki was hauled out somehow by Les on a tractor. I THINK thats the story . Come along this Sunday to Bob Dylan Song Book Band and Bill is pretty sure there will be a gew itneresting tales.
