21/12/2006 - To Glenn McGrath and Shane Warne

Posted in aussports

My fiancé messaged me this morning, telling me that Shane Warne has announced his retirement after The Ashes. When I saw the news about Glenn McGrath’s retirement announcement minutes ago, I decided to do something for them, for their great performances throughout their cricket career.

I never knew what cricket was till my fiancé introduced it to me. This is his favourite sport! Still, after two years’ study about cricket, I can’t completely understand its difficult rules and complicated time schedules. The point is that I can’t figure out why they have to be established like that. Why a game has to play for such a long time??? It’s bizarre to me. However, influenced by my beloved fiancé, I have started to pay attention to it and try to understand it.

The first real time for me to touch cricket is last Christmas. I bought The Ashes 2005 for him to feed his cricket hunger. Through the DVDs, I have known a lot of players and at that time, my favourite player was Brett Lee and I didn’t like Shane Warne because of his bad sexual behaviours. I also play a bit cricket game with my fiancé. But I can never be as calm as him. I am always afraid of losing a wicket or letting the opponent get a six.

Last month, we received some newspaper from Australia, reporting on The Ashes ongoing in Australia. The newspaper listed all the players of the Aussie team along with their photos. Then, I suddenly realised that Shane Warne was the best-looking one! My fiancé was surprised and I was a bit startled as well. Meanwhile, I thought Glenn McGrath looked alright as well.

But now these two good-looking players are going to retire. Australia will lose its two greatest cricket players. I thought they would stay longer despite their ages. I know that many more people are writing more sensible, professional and touching stories about them; however, this is what a cricket Xinshou thinks and I sincerely wish them all the best and hopefully, Shane Warne will stop sleeping around!

28/6/2006 - Huang apologised

Posted in aussports
Huang has apologised to soccer fans. Zhang Bin, the host for CCTV 5 World Cup show, read Huang's apology aloud to soccer fans on the evening of  June 27th (Beijing time). This is the translation: "in the last minutes of the match between Australia and Italy, I put too much personal emotion into my commentary. When I woke up this morning and watched this match's replay, I felt that there were definitely improper errors and  inappropriation, which have led people to discomfort and hurt people's feelings. I deeply apologise to the audience!"
"I am very fond of the Italian team and I hoped Ithat Italy could make the final eight and that Italy could make the match more wonderful at last. However, I mixed my personal emotion with my professional commentary. My last few minutes' commentary was against a commentator's professionalism and they caused the audience's dissatisfaction, utterance and criticisms. I, once again, sincerely apologise to the audience!"
"In the future, I will learn from the past experience, instantly remind myself of my post and balance my sense and sensibility. We always hope that refs can be just and impartial; as a commentator, I will do my best to be so too. I will become a qualified CCTV commentator."
"I wish all soccer fans have a good time!"

I reckon he hasn't realised how big the mistake he has made. His apology doesn't sound sincere at all. And I reckon he should give a special apology to Aussie fans and the Australian team and the country.

27/6/2006 - Here's the translation from the msn.com.cn report about Huang's outburst

Posted in aussports

[after Grosso was tripped over] Huang went: "A penalty kick! A penalty kick! A penalty kick! Grosso has made a great contribution, Grosso has made a great contribution! He doesn’t give Australia any chance at all. The Australian team can go home much earlier now! What an amazing Italian left full back! He has inherited Italy’s honorable tradition. He has been embodied with Facchetti, Cabrini and Maldini . Grosso himself represents Italy’s long history and tradition of soccer. At this moment, he is not fighting by himself, he is not alone!"

[After Totti kicked the goal] Huang went: "He kicked the goal! The Australian team can go home now. Italy won’t lose to Australia again. What an amazing Italian left full back! Happy birthday to Maldini! Long live Italy! How great Italy is! This is what Italians hope for. This penalty kick is an absolute one-off! Absolute one-off! Italy has made the final eight! This victory belongs to Italy,  Cannavaro, Buffon, Maldini and all the people who love Italian football! Australia may regret it. It’s time for Australia to go home. But maybe they don’t need to go back to faraway Australia because most of them are living in Europe. Goodbye! "[at this time, a background voice could be heard saying “You fuck off!” but we’re not sure whether it is Huang’s voice or not.]

27/6/2006 - This Wanky Commentator's Notorious Words have even caused disputes and discussions in China

Posted in aussports
I accidentally found this eye-catching article on www.msn.com.cn. This article has recorded all of Huang Jianxiang's notorious words except for the insults to Hiddink. He reckoned that Italy finally took a revenge on Hiddink who led the Korean team to beat Italy in the last World Cup. And he was even small-minded enough to refer this match as one between Hiddink and Italy, ignoring our incredible and hardworking boys. This is the link to the msn.com.cn 's article msn.ynet.com/view.jsp?oid=10326533
I will translate what he said exactly tommorrow (I have a lot of work to do at the moment). I hope my translation won't piss off more Aussies.

27/6/2006 - What a Wanky Commentator!

Posted in aussports
He is one of the most famous Chinese hosts and commentators. But he is a wanker as well. He acted as if he had been an Italian and Australia had destroyed his country. I was startled at his comments (actually he didn't comment on the goal but screamed and talked shit instead). He endlessly praised Francesco Totti for kicking the goal, endlessly praised Italian players and the country, mentioned Paolo Maldini's birthday and other old Italian players' names. Ok. I can understand that he must have loved the Italian team; however, I felt insulted by his words on the Aussie team. He said something like this: "Australia isn't fit for playing on the European soccer field", "Now Australia can go home and not stay in Germany any more", "Australia should go home now". Jesus Christ! I felt ashamed of him who is a professional commentator but doesn't do what a professional commetator should do. His name is Huang Jianxiang. I hope he will feel his ass kicked when Australia beats Japan, Korea and of course China in the next World Cup, being the No. 1 to enter the 2010 World Cup!

27/6/2006 - They Have Done Us PROUD!

Posted in aussports
My fiance and I stayed up late and watched the match, Australia vs Italy. There is nothing more to say about the result - fights, sighs, tears. However, the boys have brought the World Cup dream into everyone's heart and it will surely continue to the next World Cup when Australia plays Asian teams. I feel proud of them and myself as an Aussie supporter. They should receive great welcome at home. And many thanks to their coach Guus Hiddink.

13/6/2006 - The incredibles!

Posted in aussports

The Aussie soccer team was incredibly amazing! Two Tim Cahill goals in the final seven minutes - and a third by John Aloisi - created one of the most stirring moments in Australian sport overnight as the Socceroos overcame a one-goal deficit to beat Japan 3-1. We managed to watch the last thirty minutes' match, experiencing from disappointment through anxiety to great ecstasy. They are incredibles and I hope they will perform even better later on!
