25/8/2006 - No.1 ambition |
I have an edge over all the foreign media here in Beijing - I am a Beijinger - I watch news/programs about Beijing shown on Chinese televion and I am experiencing the Chinese life. Thus, I get first-hand experience and updated information all the time. And I am quicker than all the foreign reporters and bloggers who write about Beijing. Danwei is a famous website collecting and translating meida reports about China. I don't know much about it since I don't read it. I've heard that it is equipped with many foreigners/foreign reporters/foreign experts. But they are still not quick enough. It posted a report about Beijing Olympic Mascots. But I wrote about the same incident and expressed my opinions in June, two months earlier than Danwei. Therefore, I reckon if I wanna make a blog focused on Beijing/China, I will be the Number One in China on the condition that no other Chinese having opinions write about the topic in good English!

| Danwei is still much faster than the mainstream English-language media. |

Danwei usually runs a few meters behind the Chinese language media, which can be quite a ways back from the discussions that are happening online. I bought a set of those Friendlies (fakes, I think), but since they were gifts, I didn't open them to look at what was on the back. It was only that Mirror story (which was based on online reports like yours here) that clued me in.
There are really too many people blogging about too many interesting things to stay on top of everything, so there are bound to be unfortunate overlaps. Will try to remember to check out your blog here more often (would be nice if you could convince WhitePage to offer RSS feeds, though). |

Thank you for your visit and promise to come back here more often.
Though I am working at an IT company, I didn't know what an RSS fedd was.
There is the info about RSS I have found on the internet.
RSS is a format for syndicating news and the content of news-like sites, including major news sites like Wired, news-oriented community sites like Slashdot, and personal weblogs. But it's not just for news. Pretty much anything that can be broken down into discrete items can be syndicated via RSS: the "recent changes" page of a wiki, a changelog of CVS checkins, even the revision history of a book. Once information about each item is in RSS format, an RSS-aware program can check the feed for changes and react to the changes in an appropriate way.
RSS-aware programs called news aggregators are popular in the weblogging community. Many weblogs make content available in RSS. A news aggregator can help you keep up with all your favorite weblogs by checking their RSS feeds and displaying new items from each of them. |

13/9/2006 - Waiting for Beijing Fish to write about the paralympics mascot |
| Posted by zhangbohan |
As a follow up to her entertaining posts about the Five Friendlies, I am waiting to see what Beijing Fish thinks about Lele the happy cow. Unfortunately, Imagethief has already beaten you to the punch by posting his thoughts about the new mascot. His translation of its name though (lucky cow Le Le) leaves a bit to be desired. Have a look at his post here:

13/9/2006 - I am not that competitive |
| Posted by Beijingfish |
Hey, Mr. Zhang, I think you missed one part which is quite important in this entry. In my last paragraph, I wrote: "if I wanna", which clearly indicates that "I don't wanna now". I only write things I am interested in and hopefully, they will help others understand myself and then Beijing/China. I'd like to have a look at this thief's blog. Currently, my opinion about the sweet cow is that it looks cuter than any of the five Olympics mascots.
And many thanks to you for leaving a second comment on this post. :) |

| Who said anything about competition? I just want to hear your thoughts about China's new colourful cow. But if you don't wanna then that's okay. I also think it's better than the five friendlies. |
