On 22nd August, Ebay are increasing the fees for store owners, including store subscription fees, listing fees and final value fees. This has made it impossible for myself, and many others, to continue operating our stores.
The Store subscription fee is increasing by 50%, the final value fee is almost doubling, from 5.25% to 10%. When you sell Ebooks for small amounts, and have to factor in the Paypal fees you are lucky to make a profit. Certainly not enough to cover the subscription fees as well.
I still have some items in my store but am not relisting them as they end and on 21st August I will be closing the store completely.
I have started selling on Oztion. This is a great Australian auction site which is free to list, free to relist and the final value fee is much less. Membership on this site has increased by at least 10,000 since the announcement of the Ebay fee increases. They will be introducing VStores this month - beta version by 21st August and full live sometime in September. These are much cheaper to run and look like they will be very easy to use and customise.
Go to: http://www.oztion.com.au/myauctions/aussieangel2.aspx to see what I have listed.
Another Australian auction site I am trying out is Aussie Bids. It also is free to list, relist and even list in 2 categories. Their Shops have just opened and it looks like it could work well. Final value fees are similar to Oztion. To see what they are like go to:
