Boron Nitride Nanotubes

Transparent sheets of boron nitride nanotubes also display the lotus effect, they shed water like water off a duck's back, so they can be used to provide stain-resistant coatings. Until recently, boron nitride nanotubes have been difficult to grow. Scientists at the Michigan Technological University have now managed to grow boron nitride nanotubes on catalytic substrates such as magnesium oxide, iron and nickel.
