Toyota Prius

The Toyota Prius uses a combination of petrol and electric power referred to as 'Hybrid Technology'. It delivers low emissions and excellent fuel economy without sacrificing performance.

The  Toyota Prius is the world's first commercially mass-produced and marketed hybrid automobile. The Prius never needs to be plugged in, as all energy ultimately comes from the gasoline engine. The onboard computer takes care of shifting power to and from the engine and motors, and automatically determining when to charge the battery, as well as the most efficient use of the engine or the electric motors (or both) based on driving conditions. The Prius recovers energy that would be otherwise wasted: when braking, the car's kinetic energy is partly recovered to recharge the battery instead of being wasted as heat.

Environmental friendliness a load of S#*T

Do you know what the carbon footprint of one of these cars is, from dust to dust? According to a recent (very, very extensive) study conducted to determine the difference between the two most opposite cars being bought in the US, a Toyota Prius at 55 mpg, and a Hummer at 5 mpg, the Hummer worked out to be $1.95 per kilometer and the Prius at an astonashing $3.25 per kilometer. This study takes into account absolutely everything from design costs to raw materials to running and registraion costs.
To me, the 'Hybrid' cars and the whole alternative fuel debate is just one big money-making SCAM. This study and others like it just enforce what I already new.
Don't be fooled by the claims of environmentally friendliness.

Prius vs Hummer

What has the amount of $ got to do with carbon footprint? Carbon footprints are measured in weight not $. Also plenty of studies have shown the prius to be most efficient in terms of fuel comsuption, altough it's overall carbon footprint is larger than some (a few)other vehicles
