Toyota PriusThe Toyota Prius uses a combination of petrol and electric power referred to as 'Hybrid Technology'. It delivers low emissions and excellent fuel economy without sacrificing performance. The Toyota Prius is the world's first commercially mass-produced and marketed hybrid automobile. The Prius never needs to be plugged in, as all energy ultimately comes from the gasoline engine. The onboard computer takes care of shifting power to and from the engine and motors, and automatically determining when to charge the battery, as well as the most efficient use of the engine or the electric motors (or both) based on driving conditions. The Prius recovers energy that would be otherwise wasted: when braking, the car's kinetic energy is partly recovered to recharge the battery instead of being wasted as heat. ![]() Fuel effiency: Combined (L/100km) 4.4
