US Ford Electric Car 2010 - Australia When? The electric Transit Connect will be Ford’s first full-electric vehicle and will be followed in 2011 by a 5-passenger car that will travel up to 120 miles per charge, according to Ford.![]() The technology in the Transit is apparently supplied via Smith Electric Vehicles which you can check out at http://www.smithelectricvehicles.com/ Via FoxNews - Nancy Gioia, Ford Director of Sustainable Mobility Technologies and Hybrid Vehicle Programs recently told reporters that prototypes of a hybrid vehicle expected for release in 2012 have been getting the equivalent of up to 170 miles per gallon in testing. Doesn't that just blow your socks off! So, will it be good bye oil barons and hello battery barons? How much taxpayer money can Australian car manufactures gobble up? Buckets of the stuff if they want to compete with the onslaught coming from our Asian buddies. China has slowly been getting all their ducks in a row and with traditional manufacturers stumbling their day is near. More here, a company worth checking out is BYD. How can a car manufacturer compete with another who's wages costs are a tenth of that here in Australia. They can't. Ridiculous rhetoric about 'innovation' and that Australian cars are somehow better and smarter are the words of fool waiting to be cut off at the knees. Government should stop flogging the dead horse and help forge a self sustaining direction for those companies and workers. What am I leading too? I'm betting the first all electric car in Australia will be from China. Leave a Comment { Last Page } { Page 1 of 26 } { Next Page } |
