Home PC failure, laziness and end of leave = no blogging

My home pc started crashing and freezing in May. As I was due back at work in June and was very broke I decided to wait until I saw what work equipment I was given. Am now the very happy recipient of a laptop so I am getting my photo gallery and blog spot up and running.

I've been looking at friends and acquaintances' web pages and galleries. -one of most prolific and the best in documenting alternative Melbourne music is
http://photos.timchuma.com/
How he finds the time I don't know.!

My friend Rosie Haden and her band the Slidewinders have a myspace site where you can hear their music.

Went on the anti 'Serf' Choices march yesterday - (against the IR laws that send australia back to pre union and employee protection days.)

Depressing & interesting watching the ABC TV news reporters bend over backwards to make there coverage look 'balanced' by making it it look small. There were lots of picsand reports from Launceston ( a tiny town in the smallest state) and Adelaide, (the smallest of the capitals, with many small rallies held through the day) and very few of Melb (the only city with a centralised rally) where between 80,000 (police) and 150,000 (unions estimate) marched and grid locked the city.

Interesting too, that the commercials TV stations ran less of Kevin Andrews inane comment that because 'only' 300, 000 people were willing to give up a days pay to march that unions were 'out of touch' and 'most people didn't agree' (that the laws were a problem)
.
If 300, 000 workers are willing to risk the sack and lose pay then any market researcher/social statistician would say that 10 to 20 times that many agree. Andrews of course didn'tt mention the threats made to many workers that if they withdrew their albour they'd be sacked. And none of the TV journalists challenged him.

Maybe Channel nine were less inclined to union bash after half their news and current affairs staff got sacked by a message on the notice board- a perfectly reasonable practice under the 'serf' choices legislation.

I am seriously considering hiding in a hippie commune til Howard the dictator dies/retires or going to live somewhere where community, social justice, and creativity are recognised as good things, or at the least they are acknowledged as legitimate values. I want to live where people do not judge eveything by its price or its profit potential. Is there anywhere like that?- otherwise I'll keep hiding out in St Kilda - at least there are 50 or so people there who I see regularly and agree.

Bought a great badge yesterday- it says 'UNFUCK THE WORLD'

blessings to you all and a belated winter solstice greeting aetherial
