New job New choir New energyPosted on 10/4/2008 at 10:21 AM - 0 Comments - Post Comment - LinkI've been a new girl all week. Started a new job on monday which is fantastic! I've been looking for a long time after teaching for a psychopath manager drove me to despair. Back working with professionals who care about their work and don't see being pleasant as being incompatible with being efficient. I also joined a singing group theat meets in my street- how fortuitous! I went to the first one last night and had a ball. Singing= breathing= smiling for me. Slept well last night. I had a photo exhibition at Brightspace Gallery in February- I must remember to ask for the money as I sold several photos- much to my amazement.
White pages are still here so I'm back - brieflyPosted on 21/11/2006 at 12:14 AM - 0 Comments - Post Comment - LinkI've been suckered into murdoch's dark realm aka Myspace. My addy there is www.myspace.com/heathervenn and my photos are continuously updated at http://heather.gallery.netspace.net.au hope to hear from you there blessed be heather Home PC failure, laziness and end of leave = no bloggingPosted on 29/6/2006 at 3:50 PM - 1 Comments - Post Comment - LinkMy home pc started crashing and freezing in May. As I was due back at work in June and was very broke I decided to wait until I saw what work equipment I was given. Am now the very happy recipient of a laptop so I am getting my photo gallery and blog spot up and running.I've been looking at friends and acquaintances' web pages and galleries. -one of most prolific and the best in documenting alternative Melbourne music is http://photos.timchuma.com/ How he finds the time I don't know.! My friend Rosie Haden and her band the Slidewinders have a myspace site where you can hear their music. Went on the anti 'Serf' Choices march yesterday - (against the IR laws that send australia back to pre union and employee protection days.) Depressing & interesting watching the ABC TV news reporters bend over backwards to make there coverage look 'balanced' by making it it look small. There were lots of picsand reports from Launceston ( a tiny town in the smallest state) and Adelaide, (the smallest of the capitals, with many small rallies held through the day) and very few of Melb (the only city with a centralised rally) where between 80,000 (police) and 150,000 (unions estimate) marched and grid locked the city. Interesting too, that the commercials TV stations ran less of Kevin Andrews inane comment that because 'only' 300, 000 people were willing to give up a days pay to march that unions were 'out of touch' and 'most people didn't agree' (that the laws were a problem) . If 300, 000 workers are willing to risk the sack and lose pay then any market researcher/social statistician would say that 10 to 20 times that many agree. Andrews of course didn'tt mention the threats made to many workers that if they withdrew their albour they'd be sacked. And none of the TV journalists challenged him. Maybe Channel nine were less inclined to union bash after half their news and current affairs staff got sacked by a message on the notice board- a perfectly reasonable practice under the 'serf' choices legislation. I am seriously considering hiding in a hippie commune til Howard the dictator dies/retires or going to live somewhere where community, social justice, and creativity are recognised as good things, or at the least they are acknowledged as legitimate values. I want to live where people do not judge eveything by its price or its profit potential. Is there anywhere like that?- otherwise I'll keep hiding out in St Kilda - at least there are 50 or so people there who I see regularly and agree. Bought a great badge yesterday- it says 'UNFUCK THE WORLD' blessings to you all and a belated winter solstice greeting aetherial Some of my photos can be found at the following link or ask me if you want to see themPosted on 29/6/2006 at 3:47 PM - 2 Comments - Post Comment - Linkhere's the photo gallery linkhttp:/heather.gallery.netspace.net.au I'm usually found at the Pint on Punt from 5.30 to 8.00 on any Sunday when the Large No 12's are playing. May updatePosted on 17/5/2006 at 8:22 PM - 0 Comments - Post Comment - LinkBeen taking lots of photos and going to lots of Melb gigs.Saw The Bay of Pigs CD launch last Thursday-fantastic - with guests Tim Rogers, Joel Silbersheer, Dave Graney. Beautiful love songs. Also been to 6ft Hick cd launch.-complete opposite- very wild and wooly although the Spanish Club room was a little too 'nice' & hence restrained. Still seeing the best pub band in the world -Large Number 12s -every sunday (that's the name of their cd, too) The karaoke 'oscars' were fun at the Greyhound-every one was v drunk but there was a lot of love in the room. ![]() aetherial's blogPosted on 21/3/2006 at 4:49 PM - 0 Comments - Post Comment - LinkHithis is my first blog. (my home page died due to neglect and my incompetrence) but my photos are still up at my netspace gallery site. I hope to use this place to keep a record of my adventures in music in Melbourne. Most of which take place in St Kilda and nearby- i seem to need a passport to leave postcode 3182 these days, but occasionally i venture further afield, if the music impels me. :Last week was a biggie- after getting back from Adelaide on Tuesday i saw The Twits at the Espy, Gentle Ben and his Sensitive Side at Pony (Friday) Ian Rilen and the Love Addicts at the Greyhound (Sat) and Large Number 12's at the Pint on Punt.- every Sunday) Commonwealth games? what games-i did notice lots of roads blocked off, so escaping St Kilda may have beena hassle if i'd needed to get to work but getting taxis has been easier than usual. Gave the camera a rest after Gentle Ben's gig.
