2007424 - DVD scores

Humphrey Bogart as FRED C. DOBBS in THE TREASURE OF THE SIERRA MADRE

Don't usually do this but I want to share the fact that I scored some classic DVDs today at my local Kmart on special for $9 each most with bonus features.

Treasure of Sierra Madre - Humphrey Bogart in arguably his best role as the mad Fred C Dobbs. memorably parodied by the Simpsons where Bart gets paranoid about a valuable comic book.

High Sierra - another Bogie classic.

Dodge City, The Sea Hawk and Captain Blood - Errol Flynn classics and scores by Korngold!

Gaslight - don't know much about this one but it looks good with Ingrid Bergman and Charles Boyer.

The Great Dictator - Charlie Chaplin in one of his most famous and controversial roles, I've always wanted this classic parody of Nazi Germany.

Its a bit depressing to see that Disturbia, a feeble take off of Rear Window, is in its second week as number one at the box office on IMDB.

Thanks for the kind comments which shows that yes my loyal visitors are still enjoying this site.

I love your site -- I've been coming here for years. You've facilitated my Exotica obsession more than anyone on the web. Sorry I've never posted before.

<br>By the way, I'm in total agreement on your movie choices. Treasure of Sierra Madre has gotta be in my top 5 movies of all time. Great score too. Keep up the great site.

2007424 - Fantastic website

Really, truly one of the web's best music sites. I love both learning about and being able to listen to the lounge & exotica music, something I've only been discovering in the last couple of years. It's always fun visiting garage seals and thrift stores to find these vintage albums at ridiculously low prices. Occasionally they are even in mint shape. Stuff by Perez Prado, Jackie Gleason, Ted Heath, Martin Denny, Paul Mauriat, Henry Mancini, Frank Cordell, the Royal Carnival Orchestra, and the entire line of light-music records issued in the 1960s by a radio station known as CHQM. Thanks for all of the great work and may your tiki torch always be well-lit!

The music you have shared on Xtabay has been fantastic fuel for creativity, I find I'm bursting with great plans and ideas and the music is somehow energizing this. Exotica is my new favorite musical genre. I'm thinking I'd like to start exploring Space-Age as well, but not sure where to start. Thank you for your efforts to preserve and share these wonderful musical works.
