200743 - Douglas Gamley - Paradise Island




Here's another request. A compilation by me from a Readers Digest box set called South Sea Island Magic containing 10 records of some of the best exotica music I've heard.

This is just about the cream of the set, Aussie conductor Doug Gamley conducting 14 exotica classics and right up there with the best of the genre. Highly recommended.

After getting many of your posts on CD, I thought I best I thank you for your work. I have become almost an exotica zealot! The whole quest of mine to find the genre can be blamed on the Retro Cocktail Hour radio show! If I hadn't surfed in about 2 years ago, well, what a dull boy I would be.

Thank you for posting this! I primarily know Douglas Gamely from the work he did composing for films, but as a kid I had a generic "Star Wars" album that on Side A was different cuts from the music score and Side B a variety of classic cuts dubbed "A Stereo Space Odyssey". Gamely did the orchestration and conducting. It's great to finally be able to hear his non-film related work.
