20061121 - Jimmie Haskell - Countdown

This one happened to be reupped to Rapidshare.com so there's a new link below.

Here's Emmy and Grammy award winner Jimmie Haskell with his rare and collectable album Countdown. It kinda sounds like Link Wray with some Theremin and early synth sounds. An interesting blend with some stereo versions of certain tracks.

Jimmie still works as a composer and conductor today and his website is here.

Perhaps his main claim to fame is his Grammy award winning work on Simon and Garfunkle's song Bridge Over Troubled Water.

Some small minded person with nothing better to do has deleted the link. Well I'm reupping it and I will continue to do so until I hit a foolproof safe method of sharing. File now uploaded to different server.

2006929 - Thanks to the original uploader! :o)

Posted by Pinicchio
I think it SHOULD be necessary to thank the original uploader, because he had the work to do. It´s the least you could do. Or you could have kept the original link instead of re-upload his files (whoever he may be...) and collect his rapidshare points. You should know that he has opened an account due to your recommentation... I think BenT. was right, when he wrote on his page: "Please don´t break or steal anything."
In my opinion, you can share anything you want, but to adorn yourself with borrowed plumes? I don´t think it´s right, but maybe I´m wrong. However, it´s your conscience you have to live with...
But anyway: Why not share great music? I found some great rips on your page too

Hi Pinicchio everybody's entitled to their opinion and I welcome your comments. I love your site but not necessarily your policy with shares. Lots of my rips have been shared and I welcome the attention the artists will be getting. We are all on the same side. Have a good day!

2006929 - Point well put

Posted by R
I'm getting increasingly fed up with too many blogs by and by. Not that I can't handle that we think a little different on issues of sharing. But if our point is drawing attention to artists whose records aren't available or hard to come by, really that is the focus we should keep and not spoil it by private proprietary interests. So I'm writing this in appreciation of the point Xtabay makes.

I think Pinnichio's shares are smashing and I respect that he feels different than me on this issue. If he wants to share albums by email it's his right and choice. But what happens to an album or individual songs once they're shared doesn't pertain to me or any other so-called original uploader any longer. I guess a useful question to ask oneself is this one: why am I sharing?

So many thanks Xtabay! And to the one who had the share deleted: would you mind please spelling out your point?

2006929 - What a Shame!!!

Posted by Pinnichio King of ALL Rips
My condolences Mr. X that you have to deal with this! Get over yourself Pinichio. This is the second instance of your taking credit for that which you have nothing invested. Oh yeah you ripped and uploaded this. Who worked harder you or the artist who actually created the music. What an ego you must have. Maybe I will be able to hear this artist one day...no thanks to you!

This albums is one of my favourites, Mad Daddy Pete Meyers played a ot of songs during 58-''59 o'n his shows, he even used some songs as back track for his selfmade commercials (http://www.reelradio.com/bt/index.html#mdwhk59)

THANKS again Xtabay for yet another great post. I have been lurking around here for months and have enjoyed each and every LP you have uploaded. Please keep up the excellent work. I love vintage music, and you have inspired me to explore (and collect LP\'s of) many talented artists that have been long since forgotten.
<br>
<br>I respect Pinicchio\'s opinion, but I don\'t see the problem with sharing rips multiple times on different blogs. Besides, multiple shares may expose more people to the music...and what\'s wrong with that? For me it\'s about the artists and the music, not a bloggers bragging rights. :-) Thanks to all bloggers out there who make this OOP vinyl more available. GPB

thanks xtabay for the re-up

hey pinnichio i like everything you've shared, i just wish i had more of the albums. every time i get busy i don't have much time for the internet. i always thought someone should start a blog that kept all of your links alive. or maybe i just need to figure out how to rig an RSS reader correctly to save the links before they are removed.

anyway, i am looking forward to finally hearing this album.

I had to beg him for it but first I had to become a blogster and you people are worried about people deleting your entire sites? If you do it his way it only lasts as long as he feels like it. Why maintain an entire archive of uploads none of which are available? To spite us? My policy would be who cares if its available(Demonoid), always upload no less than 320kbps since anything less is a tin pan cymbal clanging(ha! the demo providers) aka oddio profiteering(flac the better) and maintain a dozen or so alternate websites for reuploading(brit record dealers or not). Thanks for the Jimmie Haskell.

2006930 - File deleted

Posted by XtabaysWorld
The file has been deleted. I won't cry in my beer about it. I will reup it for those who want it but it will be harder to delete. If all my files are deleted I don't care. I won't lose any sleep. I'll just start again, I refuse to be put off by small minded egos. I've got enough money to pay for Rapidshare premium so even if I only get to download stuff I don't really care.

I've been curious about this one for a while. thanks for putting it up. ...and for getting it back up after some spoilsport had it removed. who are these people?

I think the people who remove the links haven't anything to do with the actual artist or record company. They're just sad little killjoys who can't stand anyone having some enjoyment. They are completely selfish and really don't give a shit about the artist who recorded the material. They should take a leaf out of JC Pierric's book and welcome any attention for the artists involved.

2006101 - Huh?

Posted by Annie N Nominoose
Ok i'm a little confused here,
from what i gather Mr.Pinicchio
say's that someone else ripped this and uploaded it somewhere before..right?

Then Xtabay took the same file....re-uploaded it somewhere and posted it, not giving credit to the original ripper.

It seems like xtabays is trying to make it look like his own work even going so far as to adding his name in the id tags of the files.

i think credit should be given where due.....so Thanks to whoever did the original work..and Thanks to xtby for the post.

2006101 - naming rights

Posted by XtabaysWorld
The tag says 'brought to you by xtabay' not quite the same as 'ripped by xtabay'. I don't think Pinicchio could have supplied this file because he's never shared it as far as I can see. I honestly don't know where I got it from but it looks like I've tidied up the tags. Anyway as long as I don't delete Jimmie Haskell's name and insert my name as the artist i don't think it really matters. If anybody has any moral dilemmas don't download it!

I got this record (perhaps an reissue from the 80s, but with great sound) and it's a hit! It's one of my favorite "space-age" albums, maybe after Eclecic Electrics of Dick Hyman.
I will continue to play it for the audience and so I haven't to rip it. Thanks the rorigin ripper, thanks for uploading it! Respect!
