I have some requests:
Jack Costanzo "Afro Can Can"
Pete Rugolo "Percussion At Work"
Dick Schory "Music To Break Any Mood"
Stu Phillips "Music From Out Of Space"
Geoff Love "Themes For Super Heroes" if you have it
Elmer Bernstein "The Silencers"
Mike Simpson "Jungle Odyssey"
Kip Anderson & The Tides "Shango"
Tak Shindo "Brass & Bamboo"
ABC "The Lexicon Of Love"
Kevin how I've missed your requests. My future offerings are showing in a slideshow in the sidebar. I do have a life away from the computer (really!) but I will try and help you with as many requests as I can manage. Have a nice day!
Hi,
I love your blog and thought you might want to post a link to mine. Just started it & I haven't shared any lounge music yet but chances are I will.
prognotfrog-one of the best blog sites.///Maybe we are exoticians or loungers or jazzheads but many of us started from SYD BARRETT. So let's say a big GOODBYE to a great artist.1946-2006.NATURE BOY.
Thanks for the kind words you left at my blog about the Leroy Anderson album! I love that album too. Always makes me smile. Considering how much you download, it was high praise indeed. And to get it from what I consider one of the best bloggers out there is even better (I know, I know, that only sounded like sucking up, but I was being totally sincere).
And thanks for the linking! I came by here and I was stunned to see it up there, so many thanks again! Somehow, I'm always shocked when people spontaneously link to me. (That reminds me....I should thank Max from Play It Again, Max for his linking too.....I tried leaving a comment on his site, but you have to be a team member, so excuse me for leaving it here instead.)
I think you're right about Rapidshare; for obvious reasons, it's really gone downhill lately. I think Sendspace is good, easy, and fast, although I think it has a 1 or 2 week limit on deleting if no one downloads. Never had much of problem with Megaupload, but I can see how people don't like being bombarded with ads and confusing layouts.
Well, thanks again.....and I'd tell you to keep up the great work, but it seems kind of unnecessary!
I've died and gone to old fart heaven, I have many of these albums. I know Command 35MM, Somerset Stereo, Time, Liberty: all of them. Some of them still can't be beat.
I started about 2 months ago, looking for Edmund DeLuca's Conquerors of the Ages and Safari. Found Conquerors and when I began to peel away the layers of the internet onion, I found a whole new world of fantastic albums. Thanks for enhancing it.
Here's a link where I found and downloaded Conquerors. This is some spectacularly descriptive music. In the Adolf Hitler (yes, he was a conqueror) section you can even hear the air raid sirens over London.

You've offered up sooo much great music... Thanks for all you do, and I can't think of a single thing you could do to improve this site! What's the sense in even linking to other shares, when your own are so cool?
But, it would be kinda cool if you linked to my music mix of 'Pirates of the Exotic Carribean' which I used a bunch of music I got from you, to create:
I'm an idiot I was mucking around with templates trying to get a better background for the text when guess what I accidentally got a new template! The background I changed cos my daughter thought it looked better than the old one and I kinda like the change too. As for the chat that went with the template change (thank god the only thing) but I'll reinstall it OK! Nothing to do with George Shearing wearing a spandex thong as awful as that is.

I've been a fan of your blog for over a year now...it's the highlight of my week to see what's been updated, added, etc. You always pick the best of everything. Quite a selection. I hate to be a beggar but I was wondering if you've ever come across anything by the John Buzon Trio? If so could you possibly post it? I've looked forever for either of their albums and have come up empty handed so far.
If you have any free time you can take a trip to my online radio station where you'll find a play tracks from several of your posts!! Thanks for helping me find those rare cuts! My station is at www.live365.com/cocktailcabana. I also do lounge-themed artwork if you're at all interested, some of it can be seen in poor resolution on my desperately-in-need-of-repai website www.loungecore.org/loungecore.swf
thanks again

I have never had any trouble with your blogs. I use Firefox/Mozilla, and also have mostly unused the Internet Explorer or whatever its called.
Your blog is one of the first I encountered when I began to look at music blogs back in Nov. 2005 -- it has been continuously wonderful and has introduced me not only to more about Exotica, but about so many other areas of interest. e.g. it introduced me to Ennio Morricone -- now a favourite of mine.
You really take blogging seriously and have done a fantastic job of choosing content, as displayed in your list on the right side.
I also learned much about new blogs (your blog and Totally Fuzzy have done that job for me).
Thanks over and over again. All the best,, we are grateful for this fine effort -- and the discussion you add is very important to me, I love information about the musicians.
If it is any help. In firefox, type in ... about:config then in the top type in ipv6 and when that line comes up, right click on it a toggle it from false to true.
This solution has been posted on the Mandrivausers site for fixing a number of niggly problems. It may just solve yours.
You do a great service to us all so please accept my sincere thanks.
AussieJohn. Cairns, Qld.
I have spent countless hours of my time when i should have been doing more'important' things looking through your site! thanks so much for the excellent music (i lost most of my collection over the years through various disasters)
One request - any chance of one of you fantastic compilations with some cover versions of 'caravan' - (one of my favourites)
cheers!!
hepzibah
Yours is always the first and main blog that I visit every day--you're practically the centre of my music universe.
I know that the artists represented here are as thrilled and happy to have their music shared as I am to download it, burn it, and drive my neighbours crazy.
Mr. X.
Yours was the first blog I visited and I was inspired to start my own blog! I love the music you share with us, and I hope you continue to do so for a long time to come. Keep up the great work - and thanks again for sharing!

This place is great! I found it when Roman\'s links disappeared, but thanks to him for leading me here. I hope he gets his link problem fixed...I\'m looking for Hoffman & Baxter.
I have some requests:
Les Baxter "The Primitive & The Passionate"
Stu Phillips "Harry Revel's Music From Out Of Space"
Jack Costanzo "Afro Can-Can"
Pete Rugolo "Percussion At Work"
Pete Rugolo "Thriller"
Dick Schory "Music To Break Any Mood"
Buddy Morrow "Poe For Moderns"
Thanks 78rpm for your comment re wallpaper. I wanted something much more elaborate but I had to settle for the thumbs repetition due to the size of the jpeg file. It would have taken forever to load with a bigger file but glad you like it anyway.

Thanks for all your patience. I still don't have a phone line or internet connection in my new house. I'm kicking up a stink so maybe I'll be connected before too long. Hope you are all happy and healthy. I'll catch with you all soon.
Oh Mr X, so sorry to hear about your \"connectivity problems\"- I\'ve REALLY missed your blog inputs for this New Year. Hope all is returned to normal very shortly, and best of luck in your new premises...
Sir, a recent harddrive failure has robbed me of nearly my entire collection of Exotica, etc., that I spent years digitising. I lost all vinyl a while back, too. So, I plead that as soon as you can get back up and running, to post like crazy. This is my favorite blog. Do any of the old posts still work? Help Me! By the way, this is really a nice site.
Some overalled buffoons showed me the wires needed to connect my phone but then said they couldn't do it as they weren't licensed cable connectors or something. This is like something out of Catch 22. Still in a way I'm enjoying the break from blogging and catching up on all the music I've downloaded and not really listened to yet. The only thing is my mobile phone bills are killers.
As to the poor sod who lost his hard drive collection similar things have happened to me and I've now got duplicate hard drive collections of everything so if a hard drive goes down there's another with the same files which hopefully is not affected.
This is Lazar (from Macedonia) - How are ya.. Glad you're keeping up the good work :)
You know I have always admired your excuisit taste, and never had requests - But this time I have a request.. Could you repost the album "FORBIDDEN ISLAND" by Martin Denny ...
Glad to see your back, been looking at your blog wishing you would repost some stuff.
Do you still have the Peter Gunn collections you did on your other blog a while ago?
Xtabay, if your interested, Endless Mike has a Denny album I haven\'t seen posted before called Afro-Desia. I reaaly missed your Blog. It\'s great having you back!
Xtabay, It sounds crazy but your lucky they switched you to dial-up. Here in America one of the big companies disconnects you for a year for going over your quota. Keep up the good work. tinwheeler
This is a cool blog, though it hasn't been updated in a while. I'd personally recommend his newest share, 'Pieces of Eight' as a sweet little album of Hawaiian ballads. Also, he has the stereo recording of Denny's Exotica I -- old post, but the link is still active.
a small, new initiative from the netherlands, (every month or so)
some of your fans might like this site,
it's http://www.mannenmuziekavond.nl
6 dj's take 6 of their favorite records and present them to a small audience of musiclovers. from exotica to german electro-punk, it is all there. for the tropical vibes check dandy walker (and myself, of course).
hope you like it.
Mr X I liked the template you had before the previous one,
had lots of little pictures in it of albums, I think. anyhow Im in Western Australia. Alexander Heights, and I just love looking through all your downloads, Im a girl from the early 60s, I just never knew there was such great stuff out there. thankyou sooo much. kelly
Xtabay, I just discovered why I couldn't post a comment. To anyone with the same problem, turn off SiteAdvisor. AND I love your new site. Easier to read & exciting colors. It shows why your the #1 music blog on the web!
I posted a link to sven libaek's "soft lights..and you" in the request section the other day. After finding out how easy it was to upload an album to rapidshare (I always thought you had to be a premium member to upload) I decided to start my own blog to share some of the albums in my collection. The blog is here: http://pecksspetrips.blogspot.com/ I dont have many albums right now posted but I have many on the way.
thanks for each and every vibe you shared here.
I'd love to listen to that album in the top left of your background picture. The one with a girl sitting under a coconut tree, playing ukulele.
Hi. I'm a long time fan, first time poster. Me and My band The Xtaboys (the name is a homage to the divine Ms Sumac rather than the redoubtable Mr X) are trying to find a home for our mascot Big Ron. He loves lounge music, torchlight and natural fibre. Any takers? Details at http://www.blognow.com.au/paradiso
Hi there, first let me tell you that I love your blog. But when will you post new stuff? Something that hasn´t been shared a thousand times? You seem to dig up and refurbish your old posts all the time, telling us "I think this has been shared before..." while you know exactly that it has been shared many times before (like Stordahl´s record).
Please don´t get me wrong, nice blog, but other people post new stuff. If not all the time, at least now and then...

There is a feed litlgrey if you look in the sidebar, hopefully it will work for you and as for new posts a lot of what I post is in response to requests and also in this line of music where most records were made sometime in the fifties its hard to find new stuff without going into a new genre. Most of the shares generate a lot of downloads so someone is taking advantage of the offerings.
Greetings all! Great stuff here. I have noticed a couple requests above for Les Baxter's Kaleidoscope. You can find it, along with some other stuff, on my new Thrift Store DJ blog: http://records.fruityfamily.com. My latest post is the Three Suns - Twilight Time.
David at Renegade here. I wanted to tell you how much I love your blog! I also wanted to key you in to this very cool, all-volunteer internet radio station called LuxuriaMusic that I'm currently doing some work for. Given the music you dig in your blog, I think you should definitely check out this site.
For the next two weeks, LuxuriaMusic.com will be focusing on the sexy, sultry side of its carfeully selected (yet unbelievably deep) library of vintage lounge, exotica, surf, soft-psych, Bossa Nova, Latin jazz, go-go and Bollywood tunes. For this campaign, they're asking listeners to tune in and list their favorite three make-out songs. They've also got a special "make-out" chat room going on, and for good measure, Luxuria is even distributing free condoms to promote safe shagging in New York City, Los Angeles, and San Francisco.
With your area of musical expertise, I'd be curious to hear what your top three vintage make-out songs are . . . And, if the spirit moves you, I would love if you mentioned LuxuriaMusic.com on Xtabays World. Either way, I would definitely recommend checking out this site - really one of the best, most interesting selections of vintage and obscure tunes that I've found anywhere on the airwaves, digital or otherwise. Very interested to hear what you think!
You have a very nice blog, but I have to agree with Tikibird where's the new stuff? Why just reposts that last 6 months or so? In the old days there was something new every week, now I just hope for a new one maybe once every few months it seems. With that said, many thanks for all the great exotica/lounge LP's you have posted in the past - they are very much appreciated.
