Ok... I was 'tagged' again!!! The tag is five songs you would like played at your funeral.
Well, Im going to make a real botch-up of this tag that's for sure. There's certainly room for a little tongue-in-cheek and personal humour behind the possible selection... but knowing the first that I definitely would play at my funeral or my partner's.... I just couldnt myself get past emtions it brought up. Spent days on this Im afraid, and nup, again just couldn't lighten it up or throw that much needed insightful or humorous twist on it. I know this song will send some people running for the hills emitting uncontrollable groans, largely due to its soppiness and overexposure... but for me.. it is soooooo personal; the "loss" - now, last year, my life, my future and at the point where it ends. So...Im posting it. I must add...it IS very personal in more ways than I can even begin to express and I can't even listen to it once without falling apart into overflowing messy tears and hitting the bottle. There... all vulnerabilities revealed. Ahh to heck with it.
Do you know there are more than 22 pages of links and video clips for this song! I wouldn't have picked any of them...(all soppy and mostly crap in my opinion and if I was anyone else out there I wouldnt blame you for running for the hills). This vid clip and pictures however represents the closest I could find to how I feel, which is more about 'loss and the process of all kinds of grieving' than it is about death. Watch the images. Took me ages to find this one.
Feel free to tag yourself - if you're up to it.
(If you'd prefer a push, then I tag Kell, Chezza, Raven, Kees, and Aries).
Imagine there's no Heaven It's easy if you try No hell below us Above us only sky Imagine all the people Living for today
Imagine there's no countries It isn't hard to do Nothing to kill or die for And no religion too Imagine all the people Living life in peace
You may say that I'm a dreamer But I'm not the only one I hope someday you'll join us And the world will be as one
Imagine no possessions I wonder if you can No need for greed or hunger A brotherhood of man Imagine all the people Sharing all the world
You may say that I'm a dreamer But I'm not the only one I hope someday you'll join us And the world will live as one
Nutopia is a conceptual country created by John Lennon and Yoko Ono, a "desired" country or nation supposedly living up to the standards set by Imagine.
In the official declaration of Nutopia, it is stated that it has no land, no boundaries, no passports, only people.Nutopia has no laws other than cosmic. All people of Nutopia are ambassadors of the country. Citzenship of the country can be obtained by declaration of your awareness of Nutopia
Sounds like an admirable declaration for the world; imagine! It also seems ever so fitting even for us "bloggers", the brotherhood of man,..all the people - baring their souls.
"Imagine ... all the people, living for today"
I posted this article spontaneously, being caught out once again, and Inspired by another blogger "Snowy" and his article See More>> .that gave me great laughs.... and more than one other blogger that have bared their souls. See Plonka's Introspection. There is an article "Bondage and Bonding OnLine"....that I came across. He quotes "The idea on sites like Myspace.com is to show you're a purebred party animal", by David Brooks.
I'm not sure if that's completely true for all online blogger groups. I love this online community we have, the bonding, and, yes, the adult humour (the bondage!). I love the protective shields it provides too, although, its not always ALL what one desires .is it?

(Of course.. it must've been the red wine, that made me go and do a silly thing like posting this article... hmmm... wonder how Ill feel in the morning?
If you wish to hear something truly orgasmic - Listen to Jacques Brel "Le Plat Pays". Exquisite. Listen To Sample Podcast Just recently, Brel's song "Le Plat Pays" was played on Mornings with Margaret Throsby (15/11/06 conversations, daily guest and their chosen music) when she hosted an interview with Henri Loyrette, Prιsident and Director of the Louvre Museum. For me, this was my first exposure to the artist, and his music, and it was simply devine. Wikipedia in summary: Brel's romantic lyricism sometimes revealed levels of darkness and bitter irony. At moments his tender love songs might show flashes of barely suppressed frustration and resentment. His insightful and compassionate portraits of the so-called dregs of society: the alcoholics, drifters, drug addicts and prostitutes described in 'Jef', 'La chanson de Jacky' and 'Amsterdam' evaded easy sentimentality, and he was not shy about portraying the unsavoury side of this lifestyle. Brel's acute perception made him an innovative and creative painter of daily life with rare poetic ease. His intelligent use of words was striking and simple, exhibiting a very visual and meaningful vocabulary. Few of his peers are considered to match his skill in fitting as much novelty and meaning in a sentence from a few words in common usage. English translations of his songs have been recorded by many artists, including David Bowie (More>> see also theClogfrmOz's review on Bowie), Neil Diamond, Frank Sinatra, Dusty Springfield, Marlene Dietriech and much more. Trivia: In the comic strip Asterix, Brel is referenced in the original French version of the adventure Asterix in Belgium. When Asterix, Obelix and Chief Vitalstatistix walk through the flat Belgian landscape, the Belgian chieftain answers that "dans ce plat pays qui est le mien les seules montagnes sont des oppidums". ("in my flat country the only mountains we have are called 'oppidums'" (an 'oppidum' is Latin for village.) This is a reference to Brel's song "Le Plat Pays" (The Flat Country) in which he sings that in his flat country the only things as high as mountains are churches. In other languages this remark has not been translated in a way to reference Brel.
"He goes to the limit of his strength because, through his singing, he expresses his reason for living and each line hits you in the face and leaves you dazed". Edith Piaf
Beautiful music... another artist that my son has introduced me to..... He had this playing through the house, softly, late at night - after another very long day for us all. Another hard day of more work and hours and lack of sleep - than the body can take; mixed in with untimely drama's and conflicts; hugely damaging hurts - rifts now widening to an abyss. Just when you think you can't keep standing from such hard knocks, there are unexpected financial whoppers to be discovered - trying to finish the job. Far too tired for discussion. I know all too well that there are, always, greater heartaches out there, happening to us all. I'm trying my hardest to keep smiling, even though my eye is twitching. My bones, simply....hurt. The music crept through the house, slowly. It began 'filling' but not invading the crevices and then making its way into each corner. It reached my physical body. It wasnt the answer for my soul but it actually managed to caress my 'bones'. More like a lullaby. (huge breath.... yawn.... z zz...zzzzz) So soothing..... Perfect music to listen to. So soothing....
