Ok..just guessing now...The eyes are becoming blurry and itchy...here are my guesses:

15 down = Manliness....(there has to be a clue in why they used the word 'strait' not 'straight').. 'strict disciplinarians'...??

could be 'fluorite'...?
def = a mineral form of calcium fluoride, occurring in veins with other minerals as well-formed crystals of various colours, including a banded purple variety, known as Blue John, used as a flux.
Not quite sure how this would fit as an answer.

10/4/2007 - Courtroom?

Posted by snowy
Have my doubts about this. I'm thinking something like "vaultroom", but not with any confidence in it either.

I think 3 down is "bonds"

10/4/2007 - Apologies for the roughness of this submission...

..I had to grab the nearest texta handy, (rather than the keyboard) while I had the chance.

Already on my second, and 9 across looks far too much like 'spumante' to me.... if that 'n' would stop moving around...
Permanent Link

10/4/2007 - 9 across

Posted by snowy
I think this could be silicate, (anagram of licit sea) but can't think how that relates to anything else in the clue.

I have doubts about courtroom, and maybe even bonds and octopus.

I think I'd better sleep on it, unless Dee can sort it out after her third or fourth red. What the hell, I'll shout you a fifth one if you can.

This one got the better of me!
Solution posted above. Looks like I got off the beaten track on some of the answers... but hey... that's part of the fun. We can't (all) be right, all of the time, can we LOL
Thanks soooo much for the help, fun and company.
I may even post another crossword to tinker with... If I'm ever M.I.A.. you may find me in the crossword room. Cheers and have a good day!

So dilating was right. I never would have got marathon or weight. I was thinking relations. Anyway, it's as well that you put us out of our misery.

Think I'll take a break from crosswords for a while to recover.

11/4/2007 - Feel the same a 'lill

Posted by deena
Bit disappointed in the answers that the crossword DID have. I think some of ours were far better! LOL I decided to hunt down the solution, because, as they say: "A conclusion is the place where you get tired of thinking". Thanks for the company. It was a pleasure as always! Big smiles Dee
