Kansas would've been a bloody good guess, but I think the numbers following the clue indicates, how many letters in each word. In (1 down) I think it means two words, first word two letters and the 2nd four letters.
Does "in toto"... mean something? Anything?
Well.. then I reckon the answer could be "Mark" as in Mark Antony.... then...
(p.s. Whats the ivy thingy called that they used to wear on their heads?)
for 12 across?
A prophet...
endlessly (can sometimes denote that it needs the letter 'o' added somewhere)....hmmm?
American dessert...?some famous after dinner treat.
So...? a prophet perhaps starting with the letter "O"? and ending with a 'dessert'?
That's so obscure it might actually be the right answer.
Can't find a link with locust(s) and prophet except for the book of Joel... but still doesnt seem to make it that definitive..hhhmmm.... the two 'ss' in dessert...was a bit mean. ha ha
Good answer..!!!
(Big smiles) I have a friend who always calls me Grasshopper... ha ha
Thx for your help so far.
I would love for you to check on it tomorrow; see how its going.
ummm yeah.. Jesus in the 'desert' but the 'dessert' threw me in circles a bit.
Is it the locusts and 'honey' bit thats the 'dessert' or is it the 'cust'(ard) bit thats the dessert.
oooh cryptic crosswords are sooo confusing...and challenging... just what I like. They make you think (me usually with a squinty expression ha ha).
(Big smiles). G'night. Dee
2 (down) The sound of a band (4) ?thinking along the lines of bandwidth and audio sound waves. If the answer is wave then (8 across) innuendo is wrong. Or what about pure a bit out there but Pure = (one definition) composed of a single frequency. Music, physics; consisting of a single frequency without any overtones (refers to sound). a pure middle C
3 (down) Marine mammals confused men at sea (8) . ?an anagram of men at sea..
22 (across) Polish language one hears (6) .Bet this is an anagram of I h e a r s some obscure Polish dialect that well never know or find out until the crossword simply fills up.
28 (across) Flowers attached to kitchen items (8) .. ?Can anyone think of any kitchen utensils ending with rose perhaps? Hmmm dextrose is not really a kitchen item is it?
Ok, I suck at crosswords, I just don't have the brainpower for them. Apparently, my high IQ will only come into it's own if/when I become a serial killer LOL Ah, the things psychiatrists share with you
Who on earth could possibly complete a cryptic crossword on their own (and if they could.. that would be way too nerdy to admit).
I gotta tell you... I have no F**** idea...but in the mood to poke around and see what happens.
You may actually be the perfect partner. The way I see it ... its all about luck and word association. Little bit like those ink blot images, and you're supposed to say the first word that pops into your head.
Im just rattling off things to myself, which may or may not lead to an idea. Any half-assed guesses more than welcome and appreciated. Im afraid Im completely STUCK!!
LOL... for some reason I was stuck on "check out" chick barcoding/scanning groceries at the supermarket store. Was also stuck on 'speed hump' some word association there for fast dog. Flashes of a sick and twisted mind! Shesssssshhhh!
RIFLEMAN for 18 down, FINISH for 22 across, which means STAGECOACH 'might' work for 25 across. Sorry if all of it is wrong, my mind doesnt really work like most peoples minds.........
Have huge doubts about "revolver"...
"Finish"... well the language of Finnish for Finland would be a good one... but two N's... not that that matters here in cryptic crossword-land....
Stagecoach...!!!! now let me go up and check...(I was again stuck on 'slowcoach'...but short of a letter, and brain cell or two ha ha)
Keep it up Rav..... (ok ok... not the innuendos again LMAO)
I think "Stagecoach" is an absolute goer!!! (100%). Not sure about Finish, Revolver, Rifleman...and took my entry out for "Mark" (26 down). hmmmmm.....
Im thinking "OI-boy-st"??? what the hell's an oboist?
Had to look it up... ok.... An obo-w-ist!!! Ok.. and yes.. can see it, seeing as you also kindly pointed to the damn thing as well. Good work!!!!
Otto-Okey... Holy (moley!) Roman Emperor....
(Im wasting time looking up all this stuff on Wikipedia and trying to learn/play catch-up at the same time!)
LOL
Ok... going to post last two.. wait for me guys!
I saw "Dante"... not familiar with "andante" the muscial term at all. I was wasting time mucking around with Dante's surname Alighieri thinking there might be some musical connotations there.....
You got like 5 monitors spread out and 15 programs running or what?... Again I was wasting time on Horse-Chestnut which is a plant but couldn't find any damn word ending in an "L"... instead of poking around equistrian sites. Couldn't see the horse for the hay!
Douglas Fir???
I'll take your word for it Snowy.. I can't keep up! Posting comments, verifying in Wikipedia, dictionaries and learning.. then posting new crossword results all at the same time.
Guess thats some sort of tree then, not short for the actor?? LOL
It makes it sound like I wouldn't know intimacy if I fell over it... well.. i can tell you..... ummm.. errr...(I'll leave that for another day I think.. ha ha).
Ok.. so intimate is an anagram... gotta do my updated post/results ....hang a sec..
(I gaze around contendly and the streamers are colouring up the floor!!! Party hats on tuckered out little puppies and the plastic cups on the chandeleirs)
Thank you and goodnight (Big beamy smiles!!!!)
