(Answer: It's a WhatNot. Made by 12 year old Alfred Eliott, son of one of Walhalla's first bakers. His father Richard built the bakehouse which is Walhalla's oldest surviving commercial building. It has been restored and is used as a residence. This "Whatnot".(bookshelf)...was made from using 152 cotton reels).
And Just because (I'm evil... ) and I think either / either maybe just a little two easy...I've posted not one, but two!

(Answer for What The? Pic # 2: Nails used for securing railway sleepers).
Here we go again, now lets try and guess what this is. Is it a part of a machine that spins to manufacture something? Maybe in the wool industry of yesteryear. What the no2 looks like some type of biscuit, cookies or some other type of food.......cat or dog food? Lets hope I dont get toooooo many sleepless nights.
Pete... Hey 'Persistence' was another possible title that I considered as the name for the game! Pretty much THE 'clue' to how its played.
Glad you're not shy to have a go this time..you never ever know if you don't have a go - right!
Ok... (1)..Not an abacus, but there maybe some counting involved in the answer.
(2) Not magnified. Photo taken as is, only cropped - picture posted is about 1/4 of the picture taken.
I wanted to make it a little hard, can't be going soft on you guys just yet.
Thanks for dropping by Pete... hope this helps!
P.S. I would love to see your 'naked man' picture LOL
Dee
(1) Hmmm....doozy 'would' be a good name for it.
(2) Debris.. noooo... a pile, maybe, though generally not near walls or break water.
Sorry ... no damns either LOL... except...
WHAT'S THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN A BAD GOLFER AND A BAD SKYDIVER?
A bad golfer goes whack, "damn." A bad skydiver goes "damn," whack. LOL.. just a bad joke to throw you guys off. ha ha Dee
Sorry not a clothes hanger....but you're getting warmer!!!
Not lollies or nibblies...my teeth aren't that strong any more!
Leaving another joke for (all o') you - there maybe a clue in it - in a round-a-bout way:
Two Women Talking In Heaven
1st Woman: Hi! My name is Maggie.
2nd Woman: Hi! I'm Sylvia. How'd you die?
1st Woman: I froze to death.
2nd Woman: How horrible!
1st Woman: It wasn't so bad. After I quit shaking from the cold I began to get warm and sleepy and finally died a peaceful death. What about you?
2nd Woman: I died of a massive heart attack I suspected my husband was cheating, so I came home early to catch him in the act. But instead I found him all by himself in the den watching TV.
1st Woman: So what happened?
2nd Woman: I was so sure there was another woman somewhere that I started running all over the house looking. I ran up into the attic and searched and then down into the basement. I went through each closet and checked under all the beds. I kept this up until I had looked everywhere, and finally I became so exhausted that I just keeled over with a heart attack and died.
1st Woman: Too bad you didn't look in the freezer. We'd both still be alive.
Ok... Hope your not hiding under that behead or bed(foot) again Snowy. We haven't even started with the wine. Beads???... not sure what party trick they're used for. Maybe you could enlighten us LOL.
Im hoping you will give that LJMatthews a push out from under that bed where he's trying to hide in your secret spot....cooooosssssssssssss
Congratulations Len!!!!!
Well bloody done!
And you were worried about being left on the shelf like that train (model), the other day!!!
One guess and you got it in one!!!!
Excellent work hey?? How's that! LOL... how exciting. Hope you're smiling broadly and got your chest all puffed out...- you ought to be!!!
Congratulations - again!! You've just gained a gold token and now are displayed proudly alongside the other survivors of the 'rogues gallery honour's list'
Hoping you'll stay around for all the rest... I'll have a drink to you! Hip Hip......... Hooray - Here's to Len! (many pats on the back).
I hope I can have a go? I haven't a clue what the first one id if it isn't a screw but is the second one a mess of fish fingers, by any chance?
Fun blog!
You must've posted, just as I was posting that last comment.
Very pleased to meet you and - yes, you can have as many go(s) as you like hunny. (Well there is a limit of 500.. you may lose a point or two after that line).
Sorry.. as you can see Picture #2 has been guessed correctly by none other than the Master Train buff himself .... and on his first go! So no-one should be shy, it's just not worth it. I just hope he pops his head out from his hiding place or he'll never never know.... giggle.
Picture # 1 - not a screw (nor that fifties ticket holder that Len "LJMatthews" mentioned)... but still good guesses...
There is a certain 'spin' on the answer for this object though.
giggle giggle (smiles) Dee
P.S. I'm glad you guessed 'fish fingers' I thought the pic looked exactly like that. Hmmm... kinda got a hankering for them.. I looovvvvee fish fingers. Think I'll make me a batch. Do you think they go with wine?
I don't know whether I should.... or not.....
hmmm....
Let's see.. you've already won one game!
hmmmmmm
mutter mutter mutter (myself LOL).
Ok.. 'thingies' is certainly close enough to what it's called, and holding cotton for weavers... well that's bloody close enough too.
Ok.. I'll just spit it out.. I may need one more 'answer' from you ..or anybody.
Yes.. they are 'cotton reels'... stuck together (albeit by a ?screw or glue, nail, I have no idea) and actually now form a..................?????
So Now.. to be more precise, I need (1) the "noun".. of this object....and (2).. what it is called....
Have you already had your first glass of wine Snowy, if you have, then in that case, its just not fair. Wait for me wait for me. I havent even put the fish fingers on yet.
(psssttttt... Did you see Len under there? I think maybe Isobelle's made a mad dash to the fish&chips shop. Hopefully she's bringing enough for all of us... mmmmmm).
(p.s.s. oooops btw..this comment was posted by me..Not sure why it posted as anonymous.. oh well)...
mm... where's that food.. I'm starving.
Well I managed to get exactly half a glass out of that flask Snowy.. just enough to get all 'dreamy'.
Caught up with my favourite 'shadow friend' on IM and played John's "Imagine" in the background... not a bad night (couple hours) spent after a hard and long day at work mmmmm (smiles) Dee
Sunday night 'looms' for me Snowy. C'mon...There must be plenty of advantages to the retiring years, and I'm looking forward to it. I try to spend a great deal of energy in the prepartion of and practicing for it....
Then there's the...Alzheimer's advantage: Make new friends every day!. (I think I've got that one down pat - early onset of the Big A me's thinks)....
When I got my laptop (through my brother's help) he told me I was going to get a bonus printer with it. I replied "Woo Hoo". The following week when he was talking about it, he mentioned the printer.. I replied "Wow, am I getting a bonus printer?.. that's great. Woo Hoo!!!". The third time we discussed it ... yeah you guessed it - I answered "Woo Hoo!!! Bonus printer!". LOL. See - it does have its advantages. It's like opening a beautifully gift wrapped present every day!!
The down side is that I still have a queasy niggling feeling in my stomach Sunday nights.. and wonder why that is so...? hmmm....
Hey Snowy...Very pleased to meet you. Welcome to What The? I'm Dee.
Yes, It's true that I don't miss work. I rather like being able to do what one pleases. That "one' being Mrs Snowy. She's better than my other bosses, I have to say. She even lets me have a quarter hour off for lunch.
I've decided, the game was won (perhaps even before) largely due to the fact you were close enough anyway, but also because of 'sheer' persistence!
No more muttering under your breath! You've won not one but 2 games now. Well done!
Awarded "Two tokens" - in your treasure bag: for new game coming soon entitled "Persistent Man"!!! (Dedicated to petermcc for the idea, and also you...which you obviously are... )
The early bird gets the worm Snowy, but the second mouse gets the cheese! Glad you popped in on your lunch break...Winner!
Also glad for you.. that you get to 'do' Mrs Snowy (ha ha and often I hope). LOL Dee
